I called the NVC today and they claim that my K1 app was forwarded to the embassy yesterday. Should I expect to receive an email, or letter, or something formally stating this, or should I not necessarily expect this and just call the embassy in a few days?

K1: 01/15/2009 (mailed I-129F) - 06/23/2009 (visa received)

AOS: 08/08/2009 (mailed I-485, I-765, & I-131) - 10/29/2009 (received GC)

I never got word from the embassy in my case. I did get a late email from NVC which arrived about 2 weeks after the case was in BKK.

I tracked mine down by emailing the duty officer at the counsulate. He emailed me letting me know they had the case & it would be forwarded to the embassy.

When you called the NVC did you get your case number?

Once I got the case number from the NVC, I emailed the embassy to find out if they had received our case. In two days I got a response they indeed have it, and the Kiev embassy was very nice and went ahead and emailed all the necessary forms for my fiance to fill out.

It certianly is not the same place. Where do you get your information? You simply dont know what you are talking about & shouldnt post if you are guessing because people need to believe the info is correct.

You are dealing with China. China is not Thailand. What is the difference in a counsulte & an Embassy? Is it the same in every country in the world?

What is the difference between the two in Thailand?

I did get the case # from the NVC. I guess I could go ahead and email the embassy, but I'm wondering if calling the embassy is a better idea. I get a sneaking suspicion that emails go into a black hole somewhere, but I don't know this for a fact.

The counsulate is where NVC sends the approved petitions. They forward them to the actual Embassy section. You can do as you say & call the embassy at any time. If they have the case they will let you know. That is if they received it from the counsulate. When I attempted to call I could not get a straight answer from the embassy.

That is why I suggested you start at the counsulate. The duty officer there has the responcibility of answering these type of questions. I speak from my own experiance. I was informed about the workings of the counsulate by the Director there when I was trying to find my own case. He gave me his direct email & the duty officers to find my case.

There are 2 email addresses for the embassy. The main one may seem like a black hole. The people that actually read those filter them as they see fit. The number 2 address is used by the officers as far as I know.
