My Detailed Medical Exam Experience w/ Raeka

1st day, Mar. 31, 2009 - A few days before my medical exam at SLEC, i first looked at the forums here in VJ to find someone who is also going to take the medical exam on March 31st. I'm lucky that Raeka is so nice that she gave me her cell # so that we could meet up there in SLEC. Good thing she woke up late so she's going there in the afternoon too. I was able to arrive there before 1pm. I don't have an appointment ltr fr the embassy coz my papers were just forwarded to Manila accdg to NVC, but i have a copy of the NVC ltr w/ my case number and NOA2 so the guard allowed me to enter to take the medical exam and gave me the Patient Data Sheet.

-Since I was so busy filling out the Patient Data Sheet, i forgot to find Raeka in the lobby, but when i txted her she replied quickly and found her just right beside me! haha! There she is in white capri! It was really good to find someone you could chat and talk with. She's so jolly and we get along so easy as if we've known each for so long. We both helped each other, waited for our turns, talked about our love life and her cute baby girl, and laughed on the things and people we noticed inside the clinic haha! Some staff are so serious and others were just nice and accommodating. When filling up the Patient Data Sheet its very helpful if you jot down on a piece of paper your Case Number/Alien Number, Passport Number, your fiance/husband's US address, his contact number, name of one of his family/relatives in US as well as address and contact number too, and also the Date of your Last Menstrual Period so you don't have to waste your time to open your passport, look for your alien # on the letter, etc. Then after this, I showed it to the receptionist, I gave my passport and 1pc of 2x2 photo (write your name at the back of it), the receptionist checked for it and when its complete, she then asked me to go inside the room for a photo shoot.

-Then the receptionist told me to go to the cashier at the 5th flr to pay (that day it cost 10,454.15).

-Next, I went down to the Laboratory at the 4th flr and i saw Raeka again. The receptionist asked when is my last menstrual period then I signed the HIV test consent. We then proceeded to the blood extraction room and then the urine test. Don't worry coz the blood extraction is not that painful.

-After that, we went down to the 3rd flr for the chest x-ray. We were asked to go to the dressing room to change our clothes and wear the gown. If your hair is long, better ponytail it.

-We then proceeded to the 5th flr USA counter for ht, wt, eye exam, BP and pulse check. Do bring your eyeglasses if you have one. I was surprised that my BP was 140/80, this is the highest BP i ever have in my entire life! I think i got stressed w/ my eye exam because it was repeated i think thrice coz the nurse was so confused on my visual acuity w/ eyeglasses and w/o the eyeglasses on, but that's okay. The nurse didn't ask me why my BP is high, they are not so concerned abt it.

-We then went to the 2nd flr for immunization interview. Just bring your vaccination record if you have one. Since i already have chickenpox, hepa vaccine and immunized when I was young, i will only have two shots (yehey!) for Tdap and MMR w/c will be given on the 2nd day.

-After that, we went back to the 5th flr at the USA counter for the physical exam. We waited almost an hour here, but the other procedures I mentioned above was just fast. Oh i'm lucky that i'm the last one on the line to be checked for the physical exam. Inside the room, the doctor asked some questions then she instructed me to go behind the curtain near the examination bed at her back, disrobe completely and wear a gown, but leave it untied. She checked my throat, palpated my breasts and stomach area, checked for any scars on my wrists, and then she asked me to turn on my left side, bend my knees to the chest to check for my ####### and the vaginal area as well (don't be shy or else she will shout at you coz i heard that she shouted at the other girl before me). After this, I went back to the USA counter and then they gave my receipt and was told to go back the next day at 2pm for immunization shot and medical result.

From 1pm since I entered the clinic, i'm done at exactly 4:35pm, that was fast ha.

My advice to those who's going to take the medical exam is just wear something simple that is easy to disrobe, don't forget to bring the requirements and a piece of paper w/ some infos i mentioned above, bring a bottled water and some biscuits but hide it in your bag, just simply follow the instructions well, be alert when your name was called, don't be shy, and try to find someone here in VJ who has the same medical date w/ you so you will not get bored waiting on the line.

Me and Raeka were so hungry after this, so we went to Robinson's Place Manila to eat and chat some more hehe!

2nd day, Apr. 1, 2009 (April fools day!) - I arrived at the SLEC at exactly 2pm. I brought my 2 pcs 2x2 pic, passport and receipt. I showed my receipt to the guard and he instructed me to go to the 2nd flr for the immunization. Here, I waited more than an hour and when my name was called, I was asked to go to the check-out counter to sign on the papers and i'm glad that i was not asked to return for the sputum test. I was told to go to the immunization room. There i was asked if i have allergies, if i'm taking some meds and when is my last menstrual period date. I only got two shots, one on the left and one on the right deltoid area. The left one hurts a bit and tender, but the right one is just fine.

-After that, i was told to go down to the ground flr at the Releasing Counter for the medical result. I waited an hour again but i'm happy that Raeka found me here, so we get to chat and laugh again hahaha! After my name was called at the Counter D, i was just asked some questions to confirm what was written on the Patient Data Sheet and showed me the CD inside a plastic to check if my info there was correct, and he told me that they will forward my medical documents to the US Embassy for my interview and that's it, i'm done before 5pm!

So that means i can now chillax a bit and get ready for my interview schedule. yipeee!

Raeka good luck sa interview mo and thank you so much for the company and the laughters haha!

So that means i can now chillax a bit and get ready for my interview schedule. yipeee!

Raeka good luck sa interview mo and thank you so much for the company and the laughters haha!

thankz for sharing your experience..

and Good luck on ur upcoming interview..

Yes my friend actually mentioned that room# 5 doctor.

May nalimutan kang i-add dito Kryztine..

wahahahaha very true!!! ngumingiti lang pag mag chi-chismisan sila there was this doctor in room #5 she sounded like a robot!!!

dyan din sana ako sa rm 5, sa dr na antagal mag PE halos 45 mins bawat patient, pero nakipag palit ako ng number napunta ako sa rm 7, na super bilis 5 mins. lang ata ang PE ko!

congrats and goodluck on your interview!
