The security guards carry guns and I have reason to believe that they'd use them.

Honestly, everyone that works there is super-nice. I mean everyone. Ok, the security guards aren't exactly softies, but they're just doing their jobs.

Best advice: Look at the EMBASSY section at the top of the page, and then select canada and read over the reviews, lol

Interview Was the easiest part of the whole process, just make sure u have ur documents.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

My advice also is to not stress about it. Perspective is the key here! The people are nice, ensure you do have all the documents you think you will need.

This isn't the inquisition and I am sure they would rather give you a visa than not give you one

Don't stress about it, although it's impossible not to. trust everyone who has been through it. It's a piddly interview where they ask you virtually nothing of importance which you haven't told them already.

Don't worry about which window number you're supposed to go to, where you pay , where you sit, which way to face in the elevator, blah blah blah. It was all useless info in my opinion. Nice to know, but useless

You go, you stand in line, you go through security no worse then the airport, you go downstairs and sit, you are escorted into an elevator. You don't need to run to the wicket to get a stub ahead of other people.

Sorry to be a little blunt, but after having gone, there's a security guard to help, lots of signs everywhere, you won't miss them calling your number unless you're dief and doff.

Don't stress :)

:lol::thumbs:

I know. I can't believe some of the crazy things people do. Like standing outside in the freezing cold at 6:30am just to be the first in line.... even though your appointment is at 11:00am. It boggles the mind.

I've read the reviews and the embassy information. It's just nice to hear different people's points of view when it comes to the interview. I'm just afraid I'll miss something here or there. Or perhaps forget something. Maybe even not do something we were supposed to do.

I'm just trying to get everything in order and seeing what "active" VJers think about the process and what those of us, who have not yet been, should expect.

Thanks for your thoughts. Bottom line...?? DOn't stress. Yeah, but didn't you stress before you went, too!!??

I'm generally a laid back person, but I was not even the slightest bit worried or nervous for the interview. I was only just dying in anticipation for it be over with. I even slept normally and everything the night before.

It was really the easiest part of the whole process for us.

Removing Conditions

Sent package to VSC - 8/12/11

NOA1 - 8/16/11

I can't believe how many people here giving advice and they all managed to skip over the most important advice you can give. Bad Canadians, bad, bad. :P

The best advice is to go down the street and get some Timmies first and a bagel with cream cheese (or if your feeling nervous, some jelly filled timbits will do the trick)
