Love living in the USA and all that, plus more....

So far I am finding adjusting to life in the US a lot easier than I thought it was going to be. I almost keep expecting to wake up one day and feel the dreaded home sickness (It can last for a long time I hear!!!), but it just has not appeared yet! Yes I miss family/friends, but I would most certainly miss my wife more if we were apart. SKYPE has most certainly helped with the process, A BIG THANK YOU! and video calls make it even better! It really does make this wide open World seem that much smaller.

I certainly have missed the things from back home, such as the six-nations rugby. Watching the Rugby and the football in the pubs is all part of the British lifestyle I miss, oh yes sitting back watching the game, gulping down the pints. We have been to pubs with friends of my wife but I find that by the time I have had about three beers they are only about half way through their first! (Slight exaggeration). So, in the end will I have to curb my drinking habits or will I just naturally start to fall into place? The internet has been a lifesaver in terms of me being able to watch live football and rugby (Search and ye shall find), my wife however is starting to think I may be a little obsessed with sport!

My friends and family keep telling me that they are jelous of me living in the US, they loved it when they came over for the wedding! However, the way I see it is that I did not have a choice, the woman of my dreams lives here and I wanted her to be happy, something I know she would not have been in the UK. I'm stoppping the soppy moments now!!!

My wife keeps telling me to not let my accent change! Hmmm, not sure I will be able to really do anything about that! Talking of accents I did encounter something the other day where a fellow foreigner said something to a shop attendant, to which they replied 'sorry I cant understand you', eventually things were sorted and I was next in line, I said 'hi, do you stock english cheese here', they then replied to me 'Can you say that again', I said it again and then was told 'Sorry, I just love your accent, yes sir its over there'. I was left thinking whats that about, is my accent getting me a more polite service or something?

In all I would say that I am happier than I have ever been in my life! Marrying the woman of my dreams, planning for the future together and already creating the many memories we will have to look back over as we grow old!!! Life couldn't be any better than it is now, well, if the darn EAD came through life would be perfect!!!!
