Ok first is the reciept (N0A1), thats where I am at. Then you get the approval or an RFE, the approval is N0A2. After my packet reaches Manila, is my fiancee sent a Packet 3? I am hearing mixed things that this doesnt exsist anymore. So basicly, anyone that has recently done this, can you tell me what happens/should happen after the embassy recieves the petition approval etc.?

Thank-U

Did you check the embassy website? They should have what to expect there.

Ankara embassy in Turkey doesn't send out any packets, just an email to the people invovled, and points them to their website to download and fill out the "packets"

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

Hello,

My Fiancee just received a letter from the U.S Embassy in Manila, saying her case was eligable to be scheduled for a visa interview,I made the appointment for her interview on the phone from the US.

Part of the letter said "Please read and follow all interview preperation instructions for fiance(e) K1/K3 visa appointments located on the Embassy's web site at http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwh3238.html.Theinstructions contained at the website will inform you of the required documentation and procedures to follow prior to the interview date.

I usually just typed in US Embassy,Manila on dogplie.com and looked up the information.

This is from someone that just completed the process and went to Manila for the interview with my fiancee. It helped a lot and she is here now as of 01/26/2009.The visa was approved the day after the interview and we picked it up the next day.

Yes your fiance will surely get the packet 3 thing..BUT...just like what most of k1 applicants did..we did not wait for packet 3 to arrive. EIther you or your fiancee can make a call to the embassy, for $18 charge for you/ like a dollar per minute if call is made in the Phils. w/c is not practical. The $18 call is good for as many calls as you want i guess (ours, we have used the pin we have purchased 4 times already), and request for interview date. Your fiancee can only be eligible for interview once your petition have passed through the NVC to USEM Manila. After your get a notice in your email that your petition has been approved and has been sent to NVC, you can call the NVC everyday to get the case number and ask when have they forwarded it to MAnila..from there, you can count like 7-10 days, then you can make a call to set an appointment. If the call center agent said its still on process and not eligible yet, she/he would advise you to call like after 2 weeks BUT you don't have to wait that long, give it atleast 3 days then call them again.

The packet 3 thing just contains info that you are eligible for interview and it only contains direction on what website or link to go. here is that website. http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwfk1en.pdf So whether you call the embassy or not, they will still send you the packet 3. Mine arrived 3 days after i already made the call. Please take note of the following info to provide to the call agent; CASE NUMBER (MNL xxxxxxx),COMPLETE NAME AND ADDRESS, EMAIL ADD, B-DATE, CONTACT NUMBER.

Just do what is asked on that website and you will be okay with your papers...by the way, after your petition is approved, your part is done Your fiancee now has to start working on HER APPLICATION. But since she will be needing your affidavit of support, then that would be your part to do.

I would not advise you to rely on the stuff yous ee here on VJ because every case is different. Just follow the instructions carefully on the official website although it would be a great help to know other's experiences.

Just message me if there's more you want to ask and ill try my very best to provide appropriate info for your k1 journey.

God Bless us all!

HI, my interview date will be on the 23rd and i plan to have my visa to be picked up personally since we already have made final travel plan and purchased ticket already (yeah its risky, we know that)...anyway, did you have to pay air21 for that? What did you tell the CO about you deciding to just pick up the visa yourself? thank you.
