TB information and interview..HELP!

Hi all, this is my first post...hopefully someone can assist me. Short history on me...met my wife overseas, and we were married...she lives with me in America and we have 2 wonderful kids...that's the good news.

The problem:

My uncle is dating one of my wifes really close friends, a year now. They hit it off and fell in love. He visited her last July. Everything was good with paperwork and that other stuff until she went to Medical....yup...TB positive.

She has recently tested negative on a sputum test, however, she doesn't get her culture results back until supposedly the 22nd of May. We aren't sure why the wait is that long if she is already showing up negative. It's a helpless feeling to not know what to do in this situation to help them out.

...if the culture comes back negative, is she allowed an interview then or does she still have to wait the full 6 months...?

Any help or advice would be appreciated...

even if she tested negative on the sputum tests, she still has to wait 2 months for the culture results. if she has a negative culture result, then she can have the immunizations and then go to the interview. but if she has a positive culture result, then she takes the meds for 6 months. hope this answers your question.

It does confirm what I've thought. However, she has already been on the medication, wasn't sure if she had to "finish" it all or not if the culture is negative..

if she has been on medications already, then most likely her culture will come out negative. the doc at slec will fully explain everything to her.

Ok then, well my last question is this...April 19 is the date that supposedly all the paperwork expires or whatever....this isn't going to become an issue will it???

all i know is that st lukes will take care of informing and postponing her interview sked with the us embassy.
