Question though: why IS the case dragging so much ? And why aren't her representatives doing more to help? That's bullsh!t!

Senators and Congressmen can only do so much. One federal government department cannot put undo pressure on another federal department. It sucks, but they can't do much more than research your case and apply gentle pressure.

The Department of Homeland Security is accountable to no one. Combine that with the fact they are also very lazy and unorganized and it is very annoying. It's sad because I haven't seen this with other government departments to the extent in DHS. For example, when I file my taxes, they are processed in a timely manner (even when I'm owed money). Why should USCIS petitions be different?

BTW: on a similar topic, there is a petition on the ACLU's website regarding unfair treatment by DHS you can file out. Its a little off topic, sorry:

Whoa! I didn't notice this thread until just now. I was talking to my fiancé on the phone a few hours ago about Sara and Perviz. Then we started talking about how we should start a petition... I even started writing one, but everyone here is totally on the ball! I don't think there's a person alive that wouldn't sign a petition on your behalf, Sara. Not only are you the sweetest person on VJ, but what you've gone through is completely unacceptable. Pretty much everyone in my life knows about your story and agrees that what USCIS has put you two through is terrible. I'll get friends/family/co-workers to sign too!

Maybe we can do an online petition on www.PetitionOnline.com so we can have all signatures in the same place and do some sort of press release about it and one on Google Docs to print out, sign, and mail to our individual congresspersons? Or maybe having two copies (one online and one on paper) of the same petition isn't such a good idea. I dunno...

I think the petition will get the attention of those who hold power over this process and the media! And if not... there's always protesting naked at our local federal buildings!

Sara, I know we don't really know each other... but I will do anything for you and Perviz. You deserve your NOA2.

You all let me know if there's anything I can do!

~Stephanie

The www.petitiononline.com looks like the best way. I've looked at getting it going but I'm in the UK & it says its only available to use in USA.

Can you or anyone else get it going? Once it's up & going we can all add our names etc. Once we get 'hundreds' of them we can send them off to whoever. To the Whitehouse, to the Congressmen in as many states as possible maybe??

Sara already has the mailing address for the Whitehouse. We could also find an email address for the Whitehouse.

oh god - hope mine don't take that long - we been waiting since 02 nov 08 and still nothing yet.....not fair how some get approval within weeks and even days.....

dont worry im pretty sure u wont have to wait like we have it doesn't happen all that often i will add u to my prayers

sara

This is an excellent example of what kind of person Sara is. While it is easy to say "hang in there, it'll be fine" when you are already at the next step, she is still always so positive and encouraging to all others even when she can no longer track herself on Igor's, she sees people getting approved within 20 days from CSC, and she has people like this whining after waiting 5 months and she has been waiting over a year and a half!!!!!!! I wish you the best Sara and I love the petition idea, I'm in!

The only thing is, do you think anyone will honestly take the online petition seriously? I only ask because anybody can sign it, even if they have NO IDEA WHATSOEVER what it's about. See example:

This is a great thread. I'm so happy to see that Sara's beautiful spirit has touched so many of you the way it has me over the years i've grown to know her.

She has been waiting close to two years now and has already contacted her representatives, different lawyers, CSC (countless times), media, the ombudsman and even the white house. The most frustrating part of it is that she receives a different answer each time she talks to somebody.

Security checks are one thing but a United States Citizen should, at the very least, be able to get a definitive answer regarding their petition.

Just so you are all aware... Sara has sent me every document she has with regards to her case. I will be compliling a package with timeline to send off to anyone who will listen....government, media, etc. Perhaps I will add a petition to it for us all to sign and, if sara is not opposed to it, make the package available on my server for others to send to any contacts they may have.

It may not get us the results we'd all love to see for Sara and Perviz but at least it gives them, essentially all of US, a bigger voice.

Look for updates in this thread.

I'd be more than happy to sign a petition. but I think there is more we can do. I agree with those of you that say the media is a must. Sara's story is heartbreaking and although it's one of the extremes, there is lots of heartbreak happening in the world of legal immigration, although we usually only hear about it concerning illegal immigration.
