I sent my N 400 out (registered, certified mail) on April 17th 2009. I haven't heard a thing yet. My check has not been cashed. Is this unusual???

You can also call USCIS customer service and tell them you haven't received your NOA.

The above is not legal advice.

It is either from research or merely my opinion.

Hi jeangab75

Oath ceremony was very nice.. The day I had mine, it was a pretty small event with about 50-60 people.. Took about 25 mins in all.

Great thanks. Ralgiehn400, how was the ceremony?

I called the USCIS Customer Service line today and the officer informed me that he had "very good news" for me. My oath ceremony has been scheduled for August 19th in San Diego! The notice was mailed out yesterday so I still haven't received it. I'm sooo glad I'm almost done with the whole thing! Gopalag, we will be sworn in as citizens at the same ceremony!

A question for those of you who have already gone through the ceremony: how does it work for family members that wish to attend? I have family that wants to go, but I don't know if USCIS makes arrangements for family members of applicants.

My oath is barely 2 weeks away!!!! Yayyy!

Can somebody please update the timeline for me? I'm posting from my phone and can't copy and paste the list! Thank you!

Can someone update my wife's status? Oath scheduled for 08/28/2009 at the District Court in Denver. It's less than a month and a half after interview and she's doing a name change. Much better than the four to six month wait the officer told my wife she might have.

If you want a reason to get the citizenship i was just grilled by the Border officer at Logan Airport on my way back from France. He asked me all kinds of questions :where at work, name of my position, how long i was working for my company, where do I keep my green card etc etc

I don't know what was his problem but he made me feel uncomfortable. It was really the first time that I had such a hard time at a US border. Normally they are very nice.

I can't wait to be a citizen not to have to worry about what these guys are thinking about me anymore.

Hi jeangab75,

your experience sounds very similar to the one I had when I returned from Austria the last time.

First the officer had a problem with my middle name - my middle name is printed on the Green Card but not in my passport; apparently because Austrians don't care very much about middle names, then he asked me too what my profession is ... He made me feel uneasy, too - and I haven't even done anything wrong.

I never had any problems before at my return from an international trip. Normally it's a breeze.

I hope I have a more pleasant experience this time when I return - I fly to Austria this afternoon and will come back on Aug. 16. :star:

Certainly I can't wait to become a citizen either - my interview letter should arrive pretty soon. The next trip abroad I'm going to make will be with a US passport!

You may be disappointed. My USC husband, who travels internationally at least 3x/year for the last 10 years gets grilled by customs officers half the time. He even ends up in the interrogating room. I never even got questioned in the past 3 years that I've travelled with him. He has been a citizen for 30 years. Must be something to do with his very common name. They wouldn't explain why. Apparently they have the authority to do that to anybody entering the US, citizen or not. If not, let us know so we can file a complaint next time. A few times, we almost didn't make it to connecting flights.

I can't wait to be a citizen not to have to worry about what these guys are thinking about me anymore.

Bummer.

I'm a UK citizen, and my passport was stolen back in 1996 and someone must have tried to use it to enter US. Ever since then, I have been stopped by Immigration officers and taken to the waiting room. its never been a big deal, but I wonder if this torcher is going to stop once I'm a USC.

I had a not so nice experience at the airport in Guam last year, the rummaged through my bags even if i had declared the items that I had with me. The officer asked me what my occupation is and I told her that I dont work. she checked my LV purse and asked if I am bringing in counterfeit item.. and I told her that I bought that in the US and I still have the receipt with me and they can check at the LV store.. so she then asked how I can afford my trips if I am no employed. My reply was simple... "ma'am, my husband is the one working and pays for my trips" LOL you can just see her face.. good thing one of the airline personnel was there and said that my flight is already boarding and they have one more person not there, ME. so the officer let me go, but of course I have to repack my almost bursting bags which took me hours to position items so that tehy'll fit ugh..
