I got home last night from a one week vacation to a Notice of "Descheduling" Interview... They also sent me a new interview notice with it... They have rescheduled my interview so that intead of 7/15, it will be on 7/22... One week is not too big of a delay, but I was bummed!

Don't be sad. One week is nothing. You'll be fine.

Sweeeet! I called USCIS and they told me my Oath letter was sent out July 10, 2009. (Has not yet been received), and that my Oath is scheduled for this month, however, they cannot give me an exact date.... Can't wait to check the mail, it might be here today... Will report back once I get my Oath Date.

I was right, I received the letter today 7/14, and my Oath is scheduled for 7/27/09 at 10:00 AM @ the West Kendall USCIS office. WOohoooo!!!! Almost done, one more step!!!!!!! Updating....

Things appear to be moving pretty fast for us, April filers. Congrats, KromiX!

I knew where my Oath Ceremony would be held, since it was mentioned on the slip of paper I received after my interview. So, the other day I was looking around the Memorial Auditorium's website (Sacramento) and saw their posted schedule of public events, which also inlcuded the next scheduled Naturalization Ceremony, on 8/12.

Well, today I received the Oath letter in the mail and what do you know, it's scheduled for August 12th @ 8:30 am! :yes: It also says: "plan to be at the ceremony for 4 - 5 hours" :blink: Is that the norm for all oath letters? Sounds a little exaggerated, but hey, who knows what plans they have for us in there ... :whistle:

Bring some reading material just in case it is that long. Just make sure it's not a book titled "How to bring down the US Government" or similar sounding titles.

My wife was recommended for approval after her interview today, but her Oath Ceremoney may not be for six more months because she is requesting a name change. The IO told her the soonest she could naturalize is at least two months from now.

So, if you're doing a name change, be prepared to wait.

My wife was recommended for approval after her interview today, but her Oath Ceremoney may not be for six more months because she is requesting a name change. The IO told her the soonest she could naturalize is at least two months from now.

So, if you're doing a name change, be prepared to wait.

I requested a name change on the N-400, but have changed my mind in the meantime. I was just going to use the shortened version of my name with a first letter change, which is essentially what people call me anyway, but it would just easier to pronounce for Americans. When I think about all the legal documents/accounts etc that I need to update afterwards, I decided since sending in my application that it's too much hassle, so I'll tell the IO to scrap that part of the application during my interview.

The only problem is I need to do the oath in a different state as I'm moving from Florida to Colorado a few days after the interview and that will delay things anyway. With luck I'll be allowed to continue with the interview in Tampa as I will still be a resident of that district office by the time of the interview and the IO will allow me to do the Oath in Denver. Hopefully he/she won't stop the interview and say that I need to do the interview in Denver also. We'll find out soon enough....

April 18, 2006: Interview date received.

May 02, 2006: Interview (US Embassy, Dublin, Ireland). Visa approved.

June 14, 2006: Moved to Charlotte, NC.

July 20, 2006: 'Welcome to the United States' letter received.

July 21, 2006: Applied for SSN.

July 29, 2006: SSN received.

September 05, 2006: 2 year Permanent Resident card received.

April 09, 2008: Mailed I-751 to TSC.

April 15, 2008: Check cashed.

April 16, 2008: Case transferred to VSC.

April 23, 2008: Biometrics appointment letter received.

May 10, 2008: Biometrics appointment.

June 28, 2008: Moved to Clearwater, FL (Filed AR-11 and I-865).

March 04,2009: 10 year Permanent Resident card production ordered.

March 13,2009: 10 year Permanent Resident card received.

April 24, 2009: Mailed N-400 to TX Lockbox.

April 30, 2009: NOA1 Notice date.

May 11, 2009: Biometrics appointment letter received.

May 16, 2009: Biometrics complete (walk-in).

July 23, 2009: Oath. I am a US citizen!

For offices that do judicial naturalization it doesn't induce any delay in the application, for office that don't, it might introduce delays because they have to wait until the next ceremony is conducted by judges.

A "yellow letter" is like an RFE. It asks you to bring anything that came up as missing during the review of your file at the NBC with you to your interview.

The I-659 checklist is a generic checklist that lists documentation that your IO might want to see.

We never got a "yellow letter" so we brought everything listed in the I-659 that applied to my wife. The IO didn't want to see any of it.

Wow I'm so impressed with Miami!!!! We used to take sooooo longgg! Now look, all 3 Miami people have Oath Dates already this month, and were 3 out of 6 of the first this round of applications......

Are we living in a dream world???

I think the price increase + job loss/unemployment contributes to less of the people who live here on very little money not to apply thus freeing the way for us???
