After a week-long vacation, we came home to find my husband's interview appointment notice. He is scheduled for August 18th in Garden City, Long Island. The notice was dated June 23rd. Plenty of time to prepare!

Also a big congrats to tumande and anci78 on your approvals! Good luck to KromiX and gopalag on upcoming interviews this coming week!

Congrats l.j./1999!!! I'm so happy for you! New york used to be really slow but now the general trend is 4 months from sent file to interview, the oath is another story and really depends on your local office. I'm scheduled for July 23 @ Garden city and I'll be sure to post the details for you to prepare better:)

Thanks so much, Tini27 - I'll definitely be looking for your account of your interview next month! Really appreciate you sharing all the details, since it is seems most of the NYC folks here are dealing with the Manhattan office and not too many with Garden City. Hopefully the oath will be scheduled promptly as well - I've read that they sometimes let people know their oath schedule on the day of the interview, look forward to hearing of your experience with Garden City on that point.

Hey RDan, u heard anything about your interview yet? I'm getting annoyed with the slowness of the St Paul DO. Seriously #######... Last week I called they told that my case was last updated on June 17... Whatever that means..I have been placed in queue for interview since June 1st.. Have u received your yellow letter yet?

Last week I called they told that my case was last updated on June 17... Whatever that means..I have been placed in queue for interview since June 1st.. Have u received your yellow letter yet?

Yeah got the yellow letter last Thursday. Still in que. I guess it's true that St Paul is the slowest.

Puff- Me and you will be the last ones on this post to receive our naturalization. Hopefully the oath is quicker which I'm not going to hold my breath on.

Question for all those that have/are planning to do the dual citizen... At the interview or oath do they take your countries passport? Asking because my husband is Turkish, ( falls under countries where dual citizenship is poss) has an interview scheduled for the 22nd and wanting to know if, after his interview and oath(provided he passes of course :whistle: ) will he still get to keep his Turkish passport, so that he can fly back to Germany or does he have to wait untill his US passport is issued??

I don't think his Turkish passport is taken away at the interview or oath. But if he wants to travel internationally after the oath, he has to wait until he gets his US passport, since he can't reenter the US without US passport while already being a US citizen.

Question for all those that have/are planning to do the dual citizen... At the interview or oath do they take your countries passport? Asking because my husband is Turkish, ( falls under countries where dual citizenship is poss) has an interview scheduled for the 22nd and wanting to know if, after his interview and oath(provided he passes of course :whistle: ) will he still get to keep his Turkish passport, so that he can fly back to Germany or does he have to wait untill his US passport is issued??

I don't think his Turkish passport is taken away at the interview or oath. But if he wants to travel internationally after the oath, he has to wait until he gets his US passport, since he can't reenter the US without US passport while already being a US citizen.

Agreed with imzadi. His Turkish passport belongs to the Turkish Government, not even to your husband, so the US Government cannot take it from him. He does however need a US passport after the Oath in order to re-enter the US.

If he needs to leave for Germany soon after the Oath, he could use the expidited service when applying for a US passport, although in general this doesn't seem to take any faster from what I can see on other threads. It just costs more.

If he needs to leave for Germany soon after the oath and will be in Germany for some time, then you might consider the option whereby he applys for the US passport, leaves the US on his Turkish passport, and you mail him his US passport to Germany when it arrives, so he can re-enter the US whenever.

June 28, 2008: Moved to Clearwater, FL (Filed AR-11 and I-865).

March 04,2009: 10 year Permanent Resident card production ordered.

March 13,2009: 10 year Permanent Resident card received.

N-400

April 24, 2009: Mailed N-400 to TX Lockbox.

April 30, 2009: NOA1 Notice date.

May 11, 2009: Biometrics appointment letter received.

May 16, 2009: Biometrics complete (walk-in).

June 04, 2009: Interview letter received.

July 23, 2009: Interview.

July 23, 2009: Oath. I am a US citizen!
