Funny story. Got my BIO letter today. The appointment is for the day after tomorrow.

That's fast!!! The letter got mailed on the 7th, talk about snailmail.

Anyway I am happy to have gotten the appointment.

My biometrics walk-in attempt this morning was successful, although i had to wait for an hour for my turn :)

I came in at around 8:20 am and was told that it's a pretty busy day so they do not encourage walk-ins. I was willing to take my chances, so I filled out the application and waited patiently. The security guard waited until there's absolutely no one waiting in line before he let me take a number. I guess that's just fair :) I got what I came there for, so no complaints :)

Why did you try a walk-in since you already had an appoitment?

I'm a little disappointed that my Biometrics appointment is so far away. I know that walk-ins won't change priority dates, but getting a head start on the FBI name check would be a good thing. I'll try a walk-in between now and my appointment date to see if I have the same luck as wifey246, or to see if I get kicked out and told to never ever ever come back again (until my appointment ;) )

Exactly. There's been a lot of cases lately where the interviews are scheduled while the name-check is pending resulting in 3 scenarios : re-schedule to a later date, interview without final approval, and the worse is the applicant shows up but the IO refused to interview her/him.

I figured I cannot go wrong with a few days head start.

J&D : Don't be disappointed. I don't consider your appointment to be so far away. We're talking about two weeks.

I rather wait than spend several hours waiting for an improbable appointment. On the grand scheme of things, unless you would like to apply for a government job, two weeks are not such a big deal.

Maybe I am just unrealistic, I just had to wait almost a year for my removal of condition on my permanent residence, so this N-400 application seems to be going pretty fast.

Good luck with your walk-in.

Good idea, but I had heard that the FBI backlog had been resolved? Are there still some delays?

jeangab75, on the contrary, you are being realistic and I am being unrealistic. My wife pretty much echoed your words. It took almost a year for our conditions to be removed also and the amount of documentation required took de-logging most of the Amazon rainforest to create, whereas the application for Naturalization is moving much quicker, with less hassle and very little required documentation.

I agree that 2 weeks or so to wait for the biometrics is no big deal. The only thing really of concern is that we may have to move within the next 3 months and I would have prefered to have this over and done with without having to put in the change of address forms and have the whole application being transferred to a different District Office elsewhere in the US or Florida, then suffer a possible delay of several more months and the possibility of documents being lost etc.

But as you said, it is time to be realistic and not worry about 2 or so weeks, and if we have to move, we have to move, so be it. :)

Still dont have my bio letter...I'm the only one so far back. Not losing sleep over it yet. But I'm travelling to KC twice in the next 2 weeks & if the Bio appt comes thru, that will be thrice..and that sucks. Btw, the round trip to KC is 350 miles.

Still dont have my bio letter...I'm the only one so far back. Not losing sleep over it yet. But I'm travelling to KC twice in the next 2 weeks & if the Bio appt comes thru, that will be thrice..and that sucks. Btw, the round trip to KC is 350 miles.

I hope your appt letter arrives soon! :star:

Call the customer service number at (800) 375-5283. I called them today before the mail came today to see if they had mailed anything. I had some "mail problems" last week so I wanted to make sure I didnt miss the Bio letter coming. The lady that spoke with me was very nice and informed me that they had mailed my appt notice on May 8. All she asked for was my A# to locate the info, along with my name and last name. She also told me that If I didnt receive the letter in the mail by tomorrow, I should call them to ask for a new one. Luckily it came today! My appt is on the 22nd at 12 pm, just 8 days away!

From my personal experience, I recommend that you call them to check if anything has been mailed. If it was mailed and it has been over 2 weeks, it might have been lost on its way.

I'm here countin down till my Interview....... I'm surprised no-1 else has reported back receiving an Interview Letter yet.... any1 call and ask if they have sent them out yet? gotta me commin soon!!
