LoL, i'd be careful about giving your phone number to the person you're training to take your job. My sister did that and was getting phone calls for 4.5 years after she left the job. When she changed cell phone carriers and changed her number, she got a few panicked emails from this girl. My sister was too nice to tell her to do her own job.

My co-worker constantly talks to herself (or I guess her computer). She will literally say "Urg, I got an email from x" and then when she goes to reply to them she'll say out loud "REPLY" and then when she hits send she'll say "OK SEND".

That reminds me of Star Trek IV. "Use the keyboard." "Keyboard? How quaint."

My husband, who was a manager, switched restaurant locations about 2 months ago and now he's the big boss at his new restaurant. The managers from the old restaurant still call him and ask him questions even though Jared's old boss is still working there and still technically THEIR boss as well. I wish he didn't have to give his employees his PERSONAL cell phone number. Isn't working 12+ hours a day enough? If it was a company cell phone I'd understand but it's not. I have to pay for it.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

The events planner at my work is always ALWAYS dropping the ball.

I understand its really hard to do what she does... but come on.

She schedules meetings and then has no staff on to serve them and usually I am basically playing server to these people. Which I don't mind but I almost feel like they don't schedule anyone because they know I'll be in. They just figure I'll be here to make coffee, tea and get juice and muffins together. Well this morning I phoned the events planner and let her know that she has a meeting that requires a breakfast and that she needs to get in here to serve it.

She didn't even have the meeting on the list of contracts that are up... apparently it's a popup that came through last night.

So she comes in just a couple of minutes ago and says: "Nevada I emailed you about that meeting last night!"

Um no you didn't!

And then she runs into her office and runs back out and says: "Yes check your emails, I emailed you lastnight"

So I check it and it's there in my inbox... but the send date is April 3 at 8:42 am.

Do I have stupid written across my forehead?

Oh yea I told her she just sent it now.

She just gave me this blank stare and walked away. She is from North Jersey but for some reason talks with a British accent. You can tell her blood pressure is through the roof because she's always out of breath and her face is always beet red.

She is a really nice lady but she's just sort of dense.

OMG, that struck me as hilarious and I just laughed out loud. I know a couple of other people who do exactly the same thing. It's just too weird and maybe just a little bit crazy.

Yea when I first met her I thought she was from the England and I was talking to our executive chef about food and I said: "Oh she must know she's from England!" and everyone just kind of looked at me including her. It was then I learned that she isn't from the England at all, she's just batty.

Wasn't there a saying sometime, somewhere, that used to go like "Oh..... she/he's from France." Was it SNL or was it just my family?

I had a bit of an accent growing up because of my father who had a Glaswegian accent. And then I spent a fair enough time with my nan who lived in Manchester but was Glaswegian as well.

But after awhile it does go away when you aren't around those people any more.

Every British telly show I watch though I always have to translate for my husband. He;s like, "I need sub titles!". "Amanda, what are they saying?"

Muppet.

I gained a french accent as a child from living in Quebec for a summer when I was 14. We had just moved to North Bay from Toronto and my mom sent me to live with my uncle while she found a place to live and everything.

I was all: One, two, tree!

Likewise, however, I still need him to translate some American accents and sayings for me, also.

Oh lordie I know! There is so much slang here I often pretend I know what stuff means and then Jared will turn to me and say, "You don't understand that, do you..."

And I just bow out in shame!!

I've been in the states almost two years. That's two years away from my previous job as a bakery supervisor. About two months ago, I got a phone call out of the blue from one of the women who worked for me there. I guess she got my number from Boss, who I'm still friendly with. She didn't want to chat or catch up -- mainly because we'd hated each other like fire. Nope. She wanted to know how to reload the label printer and reprogram the MiWi oven.

"I dunno."

"How can you not know?! You did it for like two and a half years!"

"Yeah and I forgot it all post-haste. It's BEEN like two years. Why are you calling me now?! You know I have a memory like a sieve if it's not something I do on a daily basis."

She then proceeded to attempt to describe, visually, what her problem with the printer was. "It's like . . . you know the one bar that goes over the top red thing, it's the thing below that, it won't fit into the silver bit, sort of." When I still couldn't help her (I hated that machine so much I think I made a physical effort to forget about it) she got huffy and hung up on me. I thought it was hysterical, especially since she couldn't wait for me to leave so she could take over my position, and has since had all the employees quit on her. Psychic revenge from beyond the border for all the times I had to hand-hold her through everything, I guess.

"Your mom is in my head right now, and she's saying don't do that."

"For Sale. One Parachute . Used only once, never been opened. Small stain."

The nerve of some people!

I recently received an email from the manager who took over my position when I lived in Canada. Actually, they split my responsibilities into 3 departments and the new person (who it took them over a year to find) only does 1/3 of my job so that really ticks me off. But I digress. :P Anyway, she was "assigning" me a task to get in touch with my former contacts to tell them to let them know to contact her instead of me now. It's been 2.5 years since I worked in that position! I was like "Yeah. I'll get right on that."
