Being a man and supervisor of 23 women and 15 men I have to say you women are the hardest to handle and other supervisors that do not have any women often ask me how I handle the day to day drama that is created in my department. Not long ago there was a leak in the ladies washroom and a couple of ladies stopped by my office to let me know..I said I will call maintenance. Two days later the leak still was not fixed as the maintenance guys are a busy bunch but when I came in the next morning I had 23 seperate voice mails complaining about the leak. Sometimes I will get 5 women in my office to bitc...er I mean to complain about some other poor girl then each of these five ladies will return indivdually to complain about the other four that were just with her. This stuff goes on day after day....so ladies either deal with the problem and put it behind you or just get over it, but more then anything...get back to work!! Thanks I feel so much better now....

Sprailenes..I would be documenting those comments and have meeting minutes because those kind of comments and the way she treats you is total uncalled for...

My experience is just the opposite, TruckerBob. We had more problems with the males than the females. But those were legacy issues with problem employees. Our department didn't hire them..... they were just magically transferred into our department from other areas because the original hiring departments couldn't handle them anymore. Union environment. Tough to get rid of useless employees.

It is SO tough to get rid of people when they are in a union OR they have been there for a certain number of years.

I just saw personnel paperwork today where a housekeeper sexually harassed a student. You know what they did? They sent him to another building to clean up instead of his regular builidng where this student worker will be.

Not fired? What?

I was really surprised.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

My new boss yells and points her finger in your face. She gets progressively louder and louder, and spits while she talks. I work in a high-end spa! Incense, soothing music, orchids, waterfalls...and this crazy screaming lady who flies into rages (often IN the guest areas) at least twice a day. Soooo relaxing.

The only time I ever had a bad boss was when I was teaching. Holy #######, that is one union you DO NOT ** with. There were these teachers at the school where I was at who hadn't really changed their curriculum in 25 years. But because they were there for 30+ years, there is nothing they could to to even get them to update their methods. The principal, when she started, was all gung ho about getting the school to be one of the most advanced as far as teaching methods and learning. When she butted heads with a few of the older teachers, and subsequently the teacher's union, she lost, badly. After that, it was as if she became an advocate for the older teachers. There would be grant money from the state or county that would come in for teaching materials or class trips, and nobody got any of that except the half dozen teachers who had massive seniority. That got so annoying that I couldn't take it anymore. I would have quit half way through the year, but that wasn't fair to the students I had. I ended up spending a bunch of money out of my own pocket. I loved teaching. I loved the kids. But the politics and administrative side of it was so off putting that I can now see why we have such a shortage of teachers here.

An update on Theresa the wonder employee. Yesterday, she was printing out a bunch of stuff, and noticed that one of the sheets that she printed out contained a page that was in her estimation "100+ brightness" as opposed to the 92 brightness that we had ordered. Everyone in the office basically said "so? ". She is now going through reams upon reams of paper to find further errors so nobody has to print something twice. Ohhhhhh I think i'm going to go slip a page of 104 brightness paper into the printer (again)

Oh no, i'd say she is that one bulb that has burned out and makes the rest in the string not function properly. She's good at answering the phones and typing stuff. The problem is that she tries to take on projects and duties that are beyond her scope. She will volunteer to do other peoples work to try to make herself like super employee. Meanwhile, she has neglected half of her own duties and quite often, she will return to the office at like 10-11 p.m. and stay til 3 a.m. to get her own work done (without pay). She thinks nobody knows about it, but it's a big inside joke.

At first, I really despised her. She was so annoying and transparently incompetent. But I figured that it's pointless to get annoyed, and realized that she is a lightning rod of comedy. Unfortunately, she is guarding the reams of paper here like a hawk, so I can't seem to slip a random page into the batch :jest:

Oh my god. That is insane. This is what happens when you have no life.

Man theres some good stories in here!!

My favourite annoying co-worker was the Constant Adjuster. This guy could not stop adjusting his package and Im not talking about the one from UPS or FedEx. Every 30 seconds hed be moving it around or whatever. Even in front of possible and current clients! (It was a Banquet Hall) I mean, for gods sake, leave it alone!! At least out in public!

My co-worker constantly talks to herself (or I guess her computer). She will literally say "Urg, I got an email from x" and then when she goes to reply to them she'll say out loud "REPLY" and then when she hits send she'll say "OK SEND".

She also is a giant mess when our boss isn't around. My boss was gone for a couple weeks and every decision she had to make, even a minor one she would yell over at me and say "What would you do?" (We have an open office concept thing going on). I also have to clean up every mess she makes. She likes to make promises to people but can't follow through and will ask me to do it, or worse, she'll call me at home and ask me to do it. THEN she takes credit for it.

I am also the only one here who knows anything about computers. This big worm thing that was happening yesterday, I had to make sure everyone's computer is up to date and scanned for viruses (something most people can do on their own). I'm not the IT department, we actually have one of those.

This makes me think; What are these people going to do without me when I move at the end of the year?

 If they have your personal email.. they will be emailing you asking questions.. like they did with me for about 6 months after I left. I gave them 4 months notice and told them to make sure they found time in their schedules to pick my brain.. very few people did.. and they realized their mistake after I left the country :)
