Some friends of our were in Canada last year for Canada Day. They were kinda surprised there wasn't really much drinking. It's not like New Orleans where you can drink in public.

I think i'm going to make some sh!t up and try to get them to fall for it. Can't be too far fetched though. I was thinking something along the lines of "Canada Day is a celebration of when Sir Walter Canada rode in on a moose with his army of polar bears to drive out the british troops in 1923". I did have Theresa sold on the idea that Canada was named after Sir Walter Canada

Tell Theresa its when Canada celebrates Christmas and the birth of the holy moose. Tell her that only real Canadians know this, and she'll feel like you imparted a great secret on her. And tell her to keep it on the DL because others would be jealous of her new found knowledge. So much so that she should never discuss Canada Day again.

Holy Moose

Well I found out yesterday on my way out from the office that I made a bit of a fool of myself. I went to find out if my vacation time for Canada Day had been approved. I had explained to my supervisor what it was because he seemed quite perplexed that I would ask for it off. So I stopped by his office on the way out to verify that it had been approved when he laughed and told me that his parents celebrate Canada Day..... his mother is from the Toronto area.

I guess it's back to tormenting Theresa.

Well it was my year end evaluation today and I while I hear no one ever gets perfect, I think I'm pretty good at my job. I'm only a program assistant but I have been asked, imo, to go well beyond that.

So, I failed the document management portion of my evaluation. The reason? I don't file my boss' paperwork for her. I spent TWO days cleaning out her office because of all the ###### she has in there. I don't even know what is file worthy because there is just paper everywhere. So I guess I'm supposed to spend more time in her office going through her stuff.

I signed it and agreed. I didn't even care.

Come on now Amanda, you know you're supposed to be doing her job for her

You still looking for another job, or was that a passing fancy?

Eh I don't know. The job market ain't so hot right now, you know? Plus I've got great health benefits here and generally a decent working environment. She keeps telling everyone she's retiring Dec. 31st of this year...she WAS telling everyone last year she was retiring as of today though so I won't hold her to it until I see the official paper work go in.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

That is the opiate of government work. Great benefits and a stable environment. Hopefully she'll actually retire this year.

I have a habit of not telling people things when they talk about their lives and generally assume I have no personal experience of what it is they're talking about. Mostly because it's none of their business that I keep things to myself, but the interesting side benefit is that they don't realize they are digging themselves into a hole and embarrassing themselves if they're being deceptive.

We used to call it the golden handcuffs. The benefits and perqs from my former employer were a huge factor in determining whether an employee left or not.

Yeah I think you'd have to be in a certain mood to laugh... the funniest part to me, is that it's loosely based on a real boss, Anna Wintour! The author of the book was an assistant to Anna Wintour at Vogue, and apparently she's the biggest beeotch boss in the world!

It helps to have a teenage daughter to appreciate these fabulous movies....although I don't mind them myself, sometimes chick flicks hit the spot.

27 Dresses (or whatever it was called) was a sucky movie though - i have to say

Wiz(USC) and Udella(Cdn & USC!)

Since I am in a bad mood and it is the day my ANNOYING CO-WORKER is in the office I think I am ready to vent about it.

First of all it is the wife of my boss.

She is semi retired and only comes in once a week, or if she feels like it, to pay the company bills.

Whatever. I think she just comes in to feel useful. She can't stand that a younger, hip woman has come in to take her place and she just lingers to check up on her husband and throw around her so called "status".

I, like some of you, work in a tiny, family run business.

I am the only office help.

I have been here one year and for the last 6 months her true colors have been coming out.

She huffs and puffs around the office. She will come out of nowhere and mumble under her breath about

things not being done or insinuating that something is getting on her nerves. Undoubtedly that someone who did or didn't do something is ME. I do my job to the letter and she has no reason to complain but she does. If anyone should or would complain, it should be the REAL boss here.

Sometimes her moods and outbursts are so unprofessional and demeaning that I have felt the need to call her out on it.

I don't. Why? I just know if I let myself get flared up enough I may walk out one day.

It is no secret how her demeanor is. How demanding and petty she is. I am told she is going thru menopause, which I guess gives her permission to act rude and irritated. I have had to go to my boss and tell him that her behavior has really upset me. He just flat out tells me "she is crazy" and you never know what mood she will be in.

People close to me tell me it is because she is jealous.

I am alone at work with her hubby, maybe he stands too close to me....whatever. I am a married woman!

I don't want her man. It has gotten to the point that my husband now suspects something is going :ot: on just because this

B is so flippant with me

I just know that I dread when she comes in . When it is just me and the ol' boss, it is relaxed and there are no problems, no disrespect or tension. When it is her day, I just cringe having to sit across the room from her.

I don't have my own office or cubby. My area is everyone's area  Which also means when she is bickering with her husband, I have to be subjected to it.

^^That's horrible! Her own hubby called her crazy?! Well the only good thing, I suppose is that you only have to deal with her 1 day or so of the month!

My Husband works with this guy who just strolls in late any time he feels like it. He just walked in this morning - 45 minutes late, yesterday he didn't arrive until 2:30. He is apparently looking for another job - which is fine, but really, you still need to show up on time at least a few times a week!
