Tis true. I would just jump at that opportunity, the worst he could say is: "No" but he will see you have the will and want to move up. I think it would impress him.

Or at the very least give him an idea for something he hadn't even considered. I can't tell you the number of times I've sat in my CIO's office throwing around ideas for how to redistribute responsibilities when people have left or cannot handle their workload. I say go for it, Amanda.

okay not directly a co-worker but our photo copy repair man is annoying.. i previously told a story about how ANGRY he was that I dared call him on a Fri. afternoon... anyway, yesterday the machine was jamming and I'd called him.. by the time he showed up 4-5 hrs from my call, I had fixed the silly thing myself and it was working but by that time I had wasted a bunch of the paper in the jams, and had to order more in order to get the project finished.. of course...

Anyway, so he nicely told me that he'd come back today if I needed him, just to call dispatch and he'd come as he knew I was on a deadline and needed this project to be finished today.. so.. of course the paper jams, I call him , and AGAIN he's "put out" that I called him on Friday.. He had a tooth pulled and he's hming and hawing about how busy he is and how much of a bother it's going to be to squeeze me in I mean HE offered.. this guy's a real piece of work... meanwhile my 5pm deadline looms..

ha ha ha.. i have no problems with regular paper, but load anything that even resembles card stock or glossy paper and try to print in color on it and look out, you got a fight on yer hands.. the worst part is that I've used 3 of the SAME machine in different places and they all act the same way but the technicians all try to blame the user for it..

So he left unable to fix it.. and told me the next time I want to print full color directories to call him and he'd come by as I printed them and try to figure out why it was chewing the paper

I find it amazing - the world thinks it is so advanced - we send people to the moon - oh space travel tourists - the internet that connects the whole world and totally green houses blah blah blah

And thanks for the suggestion that I ask for some of her responsibilities guys! Unfortunately I'm way too inexperienced to take on most of what she does, even if she's lousy at it. Plus, they've put some of her responsibility on a friend of mine in the office who will be getting a pay raise for it. Good for my friend though because shes a work a holic and totally deserves it.

It's still wonderful to know though that she's gotten half her responsibilities taken away from her because she's doing such a poor job of it all, and then had the balls to complain about a pay cut. She currently makes 90k and they are only giving her a 9k pay cut to lose 50% of her job. Nice, eh?
