I'm all mad cause the uscis website isnt updated today! I thought it was every 15th of the month? Grrrrrrrr!!!

Allie - What have you noticed on the USCIS website as being updated on the 15th of the month?

It means that they put the receipt dates that they are working on at the moment, so they are now working on anything before May 31, 2009, as it was last month, April 30th, 2009, so the Ca srvc center is on target with their cases received.

Ok i'm a whiner. I can understand totally as we all can relate to the feeling of wanting our fiance's around to be a normal couple and such. The waiting is difficult however, cause you really are not sure on the whole process. If we knew when we'd be together, we can make a goal but we cant even make plans cause we just dont know, we speculate, thats it. And that bugs the ####### out of me! Oh well...at least the uscis website is updated and so maybe they're working on our cases now...who knows...

I think that's why we have the monthly progress threads--so we can incessantly whine together :)

Also-I'm posting this article here because it pissed me off. I do want to say, though, that this attitude is not by any means popular in this college town. Don't want Idaho getting too bad of a rap.

I don't really expect all of you to read it, but it's basically a girl complaining about what she perceives to be the demise of the English language due to foreigners (specifically Spanish speaking people). It's people like this that make me extremely protective over Lamine. He speaks six languages, but I worry that the one he doesn't speak-English-will be what people use against him.

Anywho. Let's talk about cheery things now-like wedding cakes!!! :D

oops...can't remember how to insert pictures...paste isn't working....

I read in the news the other day that soon they feel there will be a mad rush to learn Chinese, because it's the most widely spoken language in the world.

The language issue is something that could be debated for ages. All I can say is that I'm assuming people moving to a predominantly English speaking country might benefit from at least knowing enough English to phone 911 in the event of an emergency. I can see other benefits, as well. Communication is a good thing. If I moved to France, I would try to learn enough French to get me by in an emergency, before I moved.

I have a friend from Kenya who lives in the US. I've heard him speak Swahili. The language is beautiful, but I'm guessing the 911 operator would be entirely clueless if he called and only spoke Swahili. I'm guessing a taxi driver or the drive-thru person at McDonald's would be clueless, as well.

Do you have a baker picked out for your cake?

It's the attitude behind the article that bothered me-an intolerence to understand what it is to learn a new language and the lack of willingness to understand. It goes both ways, I know.

As far as bakers go, I went to culinary school for a while and apprenticed under a really amazing pastry chef who became a really wonderful friend. She's alread demanded to do my cake for me. No complaints here :D

I'm sorry... are you looking at the processing times, where it says 5 months, or something else? Just curious to know what you're watching. :)

... How are all of you dealing with this?

DEALING WITH WHAT? WHAT SEEMS TO BE THE PROBLEM HERE? WAITING IS A GAME, NOT A PROBLEM. NO ONE SHOULD HAVE A PROBLEM WITH WAITING. SO WE HAVE TO WAIT 10-20-50-100-200-300-400 DAYS. BIG WHOOP! WHINERS I SAY, WHINERS!!! :innocent:;)

I don't see anywhere in my post where I feel I was "whining", I think like many people here going through this, that I have bad days where I hate this process. If you chose to enjoy this "game" then good for you. I don't. If this process takes 1 year for my SO to be with me then I see this as 1 year of my life that I will not have spent with her. I asked a very simple question "how do others deal with the pain and the loneliness of not being with your love?" I feel a man purpose of this website is to support each other when we have bad days and issues pop up, not to "bash" on people.

I think usagroom was just kidding....if you look back on the thread, we've all had break-down days where all we can do is talk about how much we miss our fiance's and how this process feels like it will NEVER end (I've had maybe more than my fair share  ) usagroom had a "whining" day (which was completely understandable and justified) a few days ago too. We've all got them. As far as your question goes, I don't think I do cope with it. You just wake up everyday and breathe in and out and time somehow keeps passing--albeit very, very, very slowly. People always tell me "in 40 years, it won't even matter anymore" and I always think "yeah, but it could have been 41 years." I know what you're saying, I just don't think there's an easy answer to your question. (F)

"yeah, but it could have been 41 years." EXACTLY! every day is precious...it just kills me inside to be thinking about what she and I could be doing RIGHT NOW. "sigh"

Mav, I was completely tongue-in-cheek, hence the smiley wink at the end. No one enjoys waiting. I think I posted in the last 20-30 posts that this is time that we cannot regain. I was certainly not trying to bash you, just coping with it with a little humor.

BTW, found out that my trip to see my girls cannot happen for at least another month. :crying:

I jumped from 119 or 120 to 106 :D I was very excited until I think they accounted for the people who were no longer in processing times-thus the leap. I think. My timeline is moving in the wrong, wrong, wrong direction! I know that it's by no means binding, but I went from August 3-14 to August 19-23. Not cute.

Yep, "Based on timeline data, your I129f may be adjudicated between August 8, 2009 and August 16, 2009*." Used to be last week of July to August.
