Facing a dilemma about my planned trip to see my fiancee and daughter in China next month. I would get back mid-August. If the NOA2 is on time then I could be going back in December. It costs so much to travel and two trips in six months might be money better spent. I WILL be going for the interview so I was thinking about waiting for it instead of taking both trips.

1. My SO and I will have not been together for 15 months next month.

2. She tells me to just get there ASAP (and she is the most frugal -- a great thing -- woman I have known).

3. It will look better at the interview if that was my third trip in 18 months.

4. Paying for their tickets to come to America will be easier if I don't come next month.

5. We have planned to do our Chinese wedding photos when I come next month.

FINALLY: Forget it, I HAVE to go. I hate basing things on money, I can always get more money but time is not a renewable resource.

Playing the waiting game...

That is the truth man! and once you see that smile on her face, it will have been worth every last cent..

Just sent our K1 packet off via UPS 2-day letter. So exciting!!

My fiance and I have just begun our application. He sent his I-129F and my G-325A on May 29 this year. He is residing in California. My agency said that after he gets our case number, I can finally start processing my part here. I am in Cebu. Is there a difference between the receipt and the NOA1? When do we see the case number? Do we have to wait for a week or so? My colleague whose fiance is in Illinois said that we could get the first NOA only a day after the first application. I really need enlightenment from those who have already experienced the whole process.

Should receive an email if you are signed up at the USCIS website. NOA1 is the confirmation that the application was received and everything is in order for them to proceed. NOA2 is the confirmation that the USA citizen (petitioner) is fine enough to proceed. Then it moves to NOA3 which is sent to the consulate in the beneficiary's country to check them out. Then it moves to the interview.

Did I leave anything out?

Oh yeah, the check sent with the petition can be checked through the bank and should have the case number on the back when it is cashed. You should get the mailed acceptance with the number too within a week of the check being cashed.

1. My SO and I will have not been together for 15 months next month.

You're concerned about flying twice in 6 months?? I haven't seen Leidys in 4 months, and I'm bummed out. 15 months would feel like an eternity. Have fun in China, and don't worry about the $$.

Ken y Leidys’ Timeline

May 1, 2009 - I-129 F (NOA-1)

Aug 4, 2009 - I-129 F (NOA-2)

Oct 7, 2009 - Bogota Interview

Oct 16, 2009 - Diomesa package arrived in downtown Barranquilla

Oct 20, 2009 - Leidys took bus to Diomesa Office to pick up Visa/Passport package because ("We don't deliver to your Barrio").

Nov 22, 2009 - POE (30 min.) Los Angeles, Intl.

Dec 27, 2009 - Wedding

March 8, 2010 - AOS NOA

April 8, 2010 - AOS BIO (in Riverside, CA)

May 11, 2010 - AOS AP

May 24, 2010 - AOS Interview

May 27, 2010 - AOS EAD May 27, 2010

Jun 18, 2010 - Green Card Received!

Apr 07, 2012 - ROC Filed

Oct 11, 2012 - ROC RFE

Jan 08, 2013 - CONDITIONS REMOVED!!!

I see my girl twice a day and we talk for hours. We are not kids, we are older and can wait for things. Money does not grow on trees and it costs me about $3000-$5000 per trip. Did I mention she lives 7000 miles away in a communist country? While other maybe can jaunt to their girls, going to China is an expensive ordeal. 15 months does feel like an eternity but if our family can save $5000 by waiting 3 more months then you understand the dilemma.

Example:

Chicago to Bogota, Columbia= $385

Chicago to Guangzhou, China= $1969

(Expedia using the same dates with one stop)

I feel the same way USAGROOM ... it does cost quite a bit of money to travel ..... my biggest problem is getting another 2 or 3 weeks off of work this year .. .it's just not going to happen ... I would love to go see my SO again before she arrives here but it just won't be possible without having to look for a different job most likely when I returned :( ....

So...

I'm trying to get my fiance over here for a couple months on an F-1 student visa (my office offers a culture and language program), but I'm trying not to get my hopes up. Even if the embassy does grant him the visa (chances are slim), I'm not sure what we would do. I can't afford to fly him out here now and then fly myself out for the visa interview, then fly him out here for good after he gets the K-1. I don't know if him coming here for two months is more important (I'm dying to see him again) or if it would be better visa-wise to be at the embassy for the interview.....

Being at the interview should be the top priority IMO. It has so much meaning if you are there, when you get the pink!!!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOHOOOOOOO!

Playing the waiting game.... Sometimes I write and record songs for my girls and put a video or photo montage for posting on youtube. This one I did in January for my soon-to-be daughter. The reason it is called "I'm Fine" is that is exactly what she tells me every single time I ask her "ni hao ma" (how are you) and it is her voice at the start. The lyrics are all about things I noticed in her life; great at school, only liking her mother's cooking, the apprehension of meeting me, taking her out to eat and on shopping sprees downtown and in other cities, losing friends in the earthquakes, having her first computer, not knowing what our future holds for us........... almost every line is about something else so its too personal for anyone else to know. Anyway, wanted to share it with you. Both of my girls are in it and there is a cameo of me near the end. :)
