Starlight and EOTR-any new news?

Yes. Seems like they will never come here on this visa. Their case has taken a nasty turn and their lawyer said it could be 6 months to a year before it finishes. They can't come here until it ends. We talk many times every day.

I still read you all posting but I think my journey will end by moving to be with them years from now. I will soon be asking for my petition to be delayed indefinitely. If that is not granted then I will have to ask that it be rescinded.

All of this when we were done with everything in October and ready for the interview.

But I am so happy for you all.

Good morning, everyone!

Shewack-I love your profile picture :)

Starlight and EOTR-any new news?

Hope everyone is doing well!

This may apply more to the women on the thread, but have you guys ever read "Eat, Pray, Love"? Well, the author of that book recently released a new book about marriage and how she used to be a skeptic, etc, etc. Well, I liked "Eat, Pray, Love," so I picked it up. Maybe I was just in a bad mood, but I was immediately annoyed. She went on about how her boyfriend (a Brazilian jeweler with Australian citizenship) traveled back and forth for three months at a time for nearly two years. Of course, one day he was picked out at POE and was denied entry. She kept calling it exile (which I'm sure it felt like that) then describes how they were basically forced into getting a fiance visa. From there on, I was annoyed. She described how she needed three lawyers on three continents to help them get through the paperwork and the hardship of them having to travel all over Asia together while they waited for their petition to be approved. I know I shouldn't feel this way, but it was so dramatic and all I could think was "cry me a river." I know my process was really smooth, but I would have loved the luxury of being with my fiance throughout the process. Not to mention the fact that pretty much everyone here went through the process themselves (and surely didn't have three lawyers on three continents).

ANYWAYS.....There's my morning vent :D

Hope everyone has a great day!

I did read "Eat, Pray, Love?", but never finished the whole book. I don't know know if I want to read her new book, I think I will really feel more frustrated with the process then I already am..lol

Well, the documents are mailed off and now next week we are waiting for an answer. The sad part is now my family has even lost hope and seem to think that my best bet is to do CR-1. A few weeks ago I was thinking the same thing, and now they are worried. My fiances mom was in the hospital with a major surgery and then dealing with a family member passing away were a few delays that got in our way. Not to mention we both were dependent on our family friends to get the document sent to us via courier. But, at the end we survived all of this and a month passed by and we just mailed the documents. We are hoping that the consulate does not consider this delay a negative point in our case :(. I have been in touch with the consulate everyday emailing them and updating them on what is going on. I hope that this delay is just temporay and that there is hope for us. The worst part is on the 221g its stated do not submit passport. So, we have to wait for their answer and then they will ask for his passport. God, know how long that will be. :(. Other then that I am going to try my best to enjoy this weekend.

Wishing everybody a great New Year, and 2010 should be a good year for all of us :)

EOTR yes this seems like a never ending journey now, but you are the most patient person I have known. You have stuck by their side till the end, and I am telling you this too will pass and all of you will be able to come out of it. Just stay strong and you are an inspiration to all of us and I sincerely mean that. Keep the hope alive, and you will be rewarded.

Yes, we had to send away for the marriage certificate. They give you a ceremonial pretty kind of certificate, and the license and the official certificate to give to the minister, they file all but the pretty one, so we got that to give out to some folks who didnt care they took it to change my name no prob. So we did that today actually online to order the official certificate. Somehow in Vegas your name gets forwarded to document centers and they phone you up and solicit for mega bucks to send it to you for like a stupid amount of money but I declined them and they didnt bug us again. Changing my documents was easy without our official certificate. Unpacking and cleaning the house today big time, like a crazy person, and then off to work Sunday!

Ya tell me about it---food wise it really makes a difference! Remember you can do Davids bridal dresses for like 99$ or so...we've decided to wait to get our ss# till after the wedding then I can get mine done at the same time. Our banks didnt need ss# for him but drivers licences do, he's never had a licence so its me changing mine, so gotta do ss# for that. I was reading ages ago about us folks with foreign spouses, its like you look over at them and you cant believe you really get to keep them now! So damn true! I think so far its a awesome ride!

It's odd they require a name change on the SS card before they'll do a name change on a driver's license (but it's true) :) NE just needed proof of the name change (marriage license), but we don't have to supply a SSC as ID here.

Do they actually print your SSN on your DL?

Some people put their ss# on their drivers licences but they are slowly telling people they dont need to or should anymore. Its weird because in Az, they want you to change your name on your ss# before they change it on the drivers license. Stupid really.

Star? Any news?

No news yet. Everything is sent, and I did not get a chance to call DOS last week so crazy busy at work. But, I have been emailing the consulate and they have not responded yet. I just want an answer so we can move on and file a CR-1 if we have to. I am saving my vacations days so I can go to India in March if they do not issue him his visa with the K-1. All our documents are perfect, and I just don't understand what they could find wrong. But the waiting sucks, and I don't have any vacation right now at work because we are so busy. So, March I am going to India and going to see my fiance if we don't get an answer by then. I miss him :crying:

The latest news is that my fiance got a reminder call from the consulate a few days back to submit the religious divorce decree. We have already submitted it on January 9tt, and they have it by now, but maybe due to the holidays it just arrived. The reminder call was a complete surprise, but they said they need that document so they can issue the visa. This seems like a very good sign. :star:

Thanks for the reminder. I'll surely sign up. It's about time that I start with those papers. We have right under 4 weeks to have everything in that Chicago lockbox.
