Hope you are all doing well.

EOTR-I'm so sorry you've had to be away from your girls for so long, but I hope that you have a beautiful reunion soon.

Allie-hope all goes well w/interview prep! You'll do wonderfully ;)

I posted one wedding picture in the "my photos" section, but it's just one that my mom took and the quality's not great. Still waiting on the other pictures to come in. But at least it's me in a wedding dress :)

Beautiful! and love that dress BTW

What is the consensus opinion on getting the SS # ? Before the marriage and then get it changed or wait till after marriage?

Thanks :) I loved my dress too. I wish I could wear it everyday! All that fuss, then you have to take it off after a few hours.

I would definitely get your SSN before you get married. Do it ASAP. Go to the "Working and Traveling" thread and read some of the stories. Good luck!

What in the world is taking your fiance so long to send off Packet 3?

formophobia

n. Paralyzing fear, distress, and nervousness caused by the act of entering personal information into a pre-made template. Making simple tasks such as applying for jobs, school, etc. almost impossible for the affected.

see also: Form Anxiety

I would fly over there and sit with him until they are done and mailed. Be annoying the whole time. :D

If I could, I totally would.....

Lets do a donation drive for this! I'll kick in $100. Anyone with me?

That's so sweet of you End of the Road!!!! Haha... I'll find some kind of Paypal Donate button with a ticker saying how much has been raised... I'm trying to sell my stuff on Craigslist.. Tandem bicycle, nice china cabinet from Germany.... my eggs... any takers?

well, Riggs has an appointment with his GP on Nov 11th to get his immunizations. He still needs to call Knightsbridge to make an appointment after 11/11. One form is left to be completed for packet 3, plus having the medical date on the checklist...

I also have recently learned that once he gets here, we have 90 days to come up with $1,010. I had no clue... I wanted to cry. I can cover the cost to get him here, and pay for his K-1 visa, but once he gets here, I can't afford a wedding. I've got a co-worker that will marry us for free, we'll probably hike out to a waterfall somewhere. But I thought a wedding was all I had to come up with, now with the news of the $1,010, I feel lost. I'm trying to sell stuff on Craigslist. Its all up to fate once he gets here to whether or not he can stay... I've been stressing ever sinse.

Attaya, I can't wait to see the rest of the pics! What a great start!! You guys are SO cute...

As for the Riggs donations, lol I will pass. I have enough to worry about myself, and could easily start up an account asking for my own money... that is for sure... Sorry you didn't know about the AOS fee... that's an unfortunate surprise, if you weren't expecting it :(

Do you have any family or friends that might be able to pitch in, if you threw a fun fundraising sort of party? Ya never know.

Mav... for the SSN what state are you in? The requirements vary from state to state. I personally am not going to get mine ahead of time, cause I heard it can be a pain in the butt with the name change and everything. But I dunno... I've heard stories on both sides.

Ok.. I am feeling a bit more confident about his interview now. There are not too many K-1 petitions at my consulate, and another VJ member who's fiance had his interview today just got approved. This is so exciting!!

Star & Allie - Everything will be fine with your interviews! I know it's easy to worry a bit. In the end, it all works out.

EOTR - I wish yours could be resolved faster, but you seem to be hanging in there as well as possible. I hope your trip works out soon.

As for me, visa delivered, tickets booked (before I even woke up!). Sunday, Nov 1st, Ian comes home. :)

Have a good day, people!

Thank you Lisa for the confidence. You are right everything will be fine, and I just have to keep thinking that. Sometimes its really hard, but I am trying to stay positive.

I have been to David's bridal and they have beautiful dresses, and the prices are reasonable. The pinky flower idea sounds nice, you should totally do that. Excuse my cali accent .

I feel like we are in the same boat Allie with our parents. My parents are also excited, and being a bit cautious as well. On the other hand my fiance's entire family are super excited about him moving here. I frequently talk to my soon to be in laws in UK and they are all very happy for us as well.

I have started thinking about the wedding planning, but have not finalized anything. I don't have a dress yet, but I hope to get something soon.

Maybe a small signature loan or credit card... I'm sure something will work out.

I understand your situation. I'm all cashed-out as well. But, if you marry by the end of 2009, you can possibly claim Riggs on your taxes as your "Dependent." That should free up some money, but consult with your tax preparer on this.

Chaz and Riggs-Sorry about the AOS suprise. That's not a happy one. It's tough. I'm scrambling as well. Wedding money helps, though. I wasn't expecting anything, but I've already received cards in the mail, and it really adds up. Good luck to you both! Hope you guys get that paperwork done soon!

Allie-the dress was light gold or champagne-can't remember now what the terminology was. I was lucky to get a deal on it because the inside of the hem was worn down or something like that (???) and it had been on the rack for almost a year. The dresses at David's Bridal were all way too long on me (even with heels) and we didn't have time for alterations (since we bought it the day before the wedding). I love the idea of wearing a pinkish flower in your hair. Is there anyway that you can add a sash to the dress that's a pinkish color? I know David's Bridal offers sashes, etc in their stores.

Lisa---He's almost here!!!!

Allie-thinking about you guys and the upcoming interview. You'll do wonderfully :)

Hope you're all doing well!

I'm not sure the requirements for ID for an SSN would vary by state. It's a government agency. I know there are varying levels of office staff's understanding of the rules, but that's just because they don't understand the rules correctly, right?
