SS very nice pictures both of you. Both of you look so happy together :). I want to wish you all the best for more happy days to come.

I called the DOS...nada.

I am going to add NVC to the nada list. I could not get through anyone today. I guess everybody who did not call yesterday, sure did keep the lines busy today .

I called the DOS...nada.

Try emailing them at the consulate. Worked for me and the info was more than what DOS gave me.

I was thinking of doing that, but it may be too soon for me. I don't think my petition has gone out of NVC especially with that additional processing thing.

Oh my freaking gosh! After receiving the email from the consulate I fired back with the request to delay the interview.

I GOT A REPLY WITHIN 24 HOURS! AND THIS IS THE BUSIEST CONSULATE IN THE WORLD!!!

They said:

"We can postpone Ms. XXXXXXXXX's visa application per your request. When she is ready to move forward, please notify us 2 months in advance for interview scheduling. If you intend to postpone further, please contact us at least once each year."

I was floored!

moving right along

My SO got a call from the Consulate to come and pick up her packet 3 yesterday. Woo hoo....and the cool thing is that we are ahead of the curve thanks to VJ, these forums and others members who have went through the Panama Embassy, that we know she already has EVERYTHING they need including the I-134 and supporting docs and completed DS230, 156 and 156K forms. So she will then be able to say "well I have all these things and I am ready to schedule the medical and interview". Now I have a question that maybe somebody can give me advice on....my SO has never traveled outside her country. I will fly to Panama to be with her at the interview, but I may let her fly to the US by herself. Her POE would be ATLANTA and I would meet her there with my parents. I suppose there is no way that I could gain clearance to meet her once she exits the entire POE process is there? My fear is she will get lost and I will have difficulty locating her. Thoughts?

I had the same fear Marverick but everything worked out great for us. I know every airport is different, but at Minneapolis/St. Paul I was able to wait at the doors that ALL international flights come out of ( Pending there isn't a connecting flight ). I would assume most airports do it this way as well. Basically Jenelyn could not get lost. She got off the plane, followed the hallway to the entering lines for the international flights, she had to find the "First time Immigration" line. From there they took her visa and scanned her fingerprints. Than asked her 3 questions, how long have her and I been dating/how long have you known each other. When is your wedding? Than Where is your fiance from. It took her about 15 minutes total. From there she was given her suite case, and followed the exit signs to where I was waiting for her. There was only one way for her to go.

What I did was ask at the airport, what is the closest point I could wait for her at and I had a very nice woman there actually escort me to where I could wait and she assured me she would not get lost as long as I waited there for her. It worked out great. Good luck !

It's awesome they are being flexible and helpful with your request Endoftheroad. It's too bad you have to delay the interview though :( ... I know you haven't been together in a very long time now so I hope you are able to move forward soon !

endoftheroad-congrats!!!!

SS-those pictures are adorable! It's so nice that you guys are getting out so much even though she just got here. Lamine was sick as a dog his first week/week and a half here.

Thank you Attaya ! I agree it is awesome she has been able to get out so much. I was a little worried how it would be for her, considering she came from a climate all her life where everyday it is 75+ degrees and always really humid. The day she arrived here it was 35 degrees in Minnesota. But she has done great and has adjusted really well already. I am sorry Lamine was soo sick the first week :( ... but the good thing is you have soooo many more days together everyday now to do whatever you two wish !

Well this is AWESOME.

Apparently someone who had been waiting about 90 days for an interview in Montreal got their date revoked because they "accidentally" scheduled them. They were told to not expect an interview until January 2010.

They've already been waiting since July.

Me thinks the guy who runs the consulate is getting a few angry letters this week.

This doesn't seem right, there needs to be some serious restructure done in that embassy if things are taking that long and "mistakes" being made. My heart goes out to anyone dealing with that embassy. Something serious needs to be addressed there, I think anyone there waiting needs to really start raising there voices so changes can start to be made.

Funny enough, I was worried for myself flying to England for the first time. Heathrow gives little chance to get lost, really... There's a flow to airports.

When Ian arrived in Omaha, the only confusing thing for him was not getting his luggage before leaving the secured area. You may want to let her know she gets her luggage after she meets you if she's used to something else.

I really think she will be fine.

Wow, a lot has been happening on the thread this morning :)

endoftheroad-glad to hear that consulate is being so cooperative, but sorry to hear that you're stuck waiting (F)

Maverick-I would agree that most airports (especially huge POE's like Atlanta) make it pretty much impossible to get lost-at least up through POE and customs. You can give her a note that she can give to people at the airport saying that she needs some help finding her way around. Initially, that's what I'd planned on doing with Lamine.

Allie-congrats! You're in the home stretch now. Just hang in there a little bit longer. Hopefully you'll get your interview date soon.

Rhiann and ashen-thinking about you both and hoping you also get interview dates soon (F)

Lamine and I got our marriage license yesterday! Still planning on having the wedding on the 24th, but have absolutely nothing planned yet. I mean NOTHING. I don't know what I'm wearing, I don't know where we're getting married, don't know who's marrying us.....I had asked my former pastor about performing the ceremony as he's one of the kindest, most loving, most accepting human beings I've ever met, but he just called me last night and said that he really advised premarital counseling and asked if we could postpone the wedding a little. I know premarital counseling is probably a great idea, but I would have to translate everything--which I kind of think takes away from the dynamic, but maybe not. Also-really not wanting to postpone the wedding. I'm ready to marry Lamine, but I'm also very ready for him to be on my insurance policy. So, we'll see.

Well remember we were dress talking the other day....do the www.davidsbridal.com thing and go from there....cheapo cute dresses there and they're decent quality...just do a wedding officiate person, they have them on the internet for your state probably, then just have a wedding in a little hall or someone's house....or something like that...in Arizona, the officiate people (whatever they're called) cost about $250 and they go anywhere and they are non-denomination. Give that a try. We're a 8 hours drive to Vegas and the chapel's decent priced and includes flowers/dvd/live net streaming/limo/minister/pictures for under $500...so thats what we're doing!
