At least you're still going to be (hopefully) meeting your expectations, and not running late Allie. I hope you can definitely be together for Christmas! Do you think you might still have a September visit in the mean time?

good morning-

hope everyone is well. I am already fed up with the dr. in Dakar. Lamine called him this morning, and he said to call back at noon. Lamine called at noon, and he was out till three. Lamine called at three, and the doctor was out until 3:30. Finally, at 3:30 Lamine got a hold of the dr, and he said that he would call Lamine tonight. He said the same thing yesterday. Every time he talks to Lamine he asks if he's scheduled the interview yet. Lamine tells him no, and the doctor says, "oh, ok. well, good then." We're not supposed to schedule the interview until we have finished the medical, but I feel like if we don't schedule the interview, he'll just wait forever. I know it's ridiculous, but I'm on the verge of tears. I want to see him again! So, tomorrow, if we haven't heard from the doctor, we're calling the embassy to schedule the interview. Then the doctor will HAVE to finish Lamine's paperwork prior to that date-just like a k-3. Hopefully, though, we'll hear back from him in a couple hours. Not holding my breath, though.

Sorry, guys. I know I have absolutely no right to be feeling frustrated, I was just so caught up in the process moving quickly, that this road-block is wreaking havoc on my nerves.

*hugs* I think you do have a right to feel frustrated! You've done everything on your end to do this right, and now you're stuck waiting for the doctor! That doctor is being very unsympathetic to the importance of this stage in the process. Does he not realize that essentially HIS meaningless delays are delaying when you and Lamine will be together again? Heartless! I hope he comes to his senses, and does what he needs to do. Was it the doctor that said you're not supposed to schedule the interview until the medical is done? If it's just a matter of paperwork, I'm sure he can get it done asap. I'd go ahead and schedule the interview too if that's the only thing you're waiting for! Good luck attaya... you're SO close!!! :)

When I was 15 yrs. old, this song literally spoke to me...Hang in there, you'll probably get that interview in December as you expected, and all will be well this winter with Nigel...Until then...

If it was me, I would take a bag lunch with me and sit at the doctor's office from the time it opened until the time it closed waiting for him to finish the paperwork. I would tell him that I can't get interviewed or married until he finishes. An old fashioned SIT-IN.

Hang in there.

endoftheroad- I hope you get out of that delay soon. (F) Lamine did camp out there all day yesterday and the day before. He's doing the same tomorrow. That @#$& doctor is being so frustrating, though. He just smiles at Lamine like they're best friends and tells him he has nothing to worry about-that he'll call Lamine later in the evening.

ashen-he did tell the doctor that he was anxious to his fiancee again and that in order for us to be together, we were pretty much relying on him to finish the paperwork. I don't know. Hopefully scheduling the interview will force the doctor to finish everything quickly.

Hope everyone is seeing progress in their cases.

What happens if he doesn't? You have to reschedule the interview? If Lamine is there every day at the doctor, all day, not taking "I'll call you" as an acceptable answer, what is the doctor's excuse? Can he call the Embassy and get a different doctor?

There's only one approved doctor in Dakar right now. There used to be three. I don't know what the doctor's excuse is. He's acting like a used car salesman. He just keeps smiling and acting all buddy-buddy with Lamine and saying how wonderful it is that we'll see one another again soon. Then he says, "Don't worry about it, we'll talk about it tonight. I'll call you this evening." Lamine's waited there until 8:30 at night, but he had to leave before the last bus left the area. It wouldn't be a good area to be caught in overnight. Ugh. I don't know. Someone on the Sub-Saharan forum who did a K-3 said that her fiance spent over 3 weeks waiting for the dr. and that he didn't have the paperwork in hand until the day before the interview. I don't know what to do...Lamine's just going to try to schedule the interview and see what happens. We've been on the phone for the past 45 minutes talking about it (my phone bill  ) and we think that this is probably the best option. I hate that it's nothing I can control right now. There are no congressmen or senators I can call. It's some random guy in Dakar that's keeping us apart.

Ugh! I would raise a stink at the USEM and DOS about this guy. I guess you have to schedule the interview without having the papers but that is scary.

Venting is fine but you did omit some crucial things with your petition. Just saying. Plus, you said you overnighted it just a couple days ago so this notice should be good news! Call them every day now and ask about the status (18003755283 then press 1-3-1-2) and checking they have the correct address for mailing. ;)

Usually a little bit after they resume a case after an RFE, you'll receive the approval. I'm betting that within two weeks you receive the NOA2. Good luck! I hope you get to be together soon.

Just went over the fine print of the visa instructions again, and they don't actually say that we can't schedule the interview prior to the medical-they just can't issue the visa until they receive the paperwork. I'm going to be calling him everyday, though, and so is Lamine. I think that they'll give us the paperwork before the interview. Keeping fingers crossed. So, tomorrow I'll have a rough time frame of when I get to see Lamine again-hopefully. It's nerve-wracking, but I don't know what else to do. I'm sure as hell not going to wait for another month for the doctor to decide to do something.

Actually I didn't ommit anything .. this is what the I 129F PDF file says for instructions ... I supplied them with my actual birth certificate, boarding passes, flight iten's, hotel receipts, credit card receipts ... it was all there :(

3. What Documents Do You Need to Show That You Are a U.S. Citizen?

A. If you were born in the United States, give USCIS a copy, front and back, of your birth certificate.

B. If you were naturalized, give USCIS a copy, front and back, of your original Certificate of Naturalization.

C. If you were born outside the United States and you are a U.S. citizen through your parents, give USCIS:

1. Your original Certificate of Citizenship, or

2. Your Form FS-240 (Report of Birth Abroad of a United States Citizen).

D. In place of any of the above, you may give USCIS a copy of your valid, unexpired U.S. passport issued with a validity period of at least five years. You must submit copies of all pages in the passport.

There is NO WHERE in the instructions stating you must include your passport .... it does state that here in VJ ... wish I would of read here alot more ... instead I followed the damn government instructions for the petition ... very frustrated right now ...
