Hello everyone,

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend ...

Just a update on our RFE situation ... I received it in the mail today ..

They are asking for a photo copy of my passport ( Which was my guess ) and evidence of meeting in person within the past 2 years ... which I assume they are looking for the stamps in my passport. So that is great as I already have a extra copy made and ready here from when Jenelyn needed a copy for her CFO certificate .... I am thankful it is a easy quick fix and I hope the rest of our Journey goes quick and smooth now.

Thanks to all those who have left me a comment here or in private messages.... the support is amazing and we thank you all for that!

Great news! Well dont forget a picture or so!

I actually gave them 50 pictures of her and I and her family with the petition .. I am wondering if they got lost or separated from our petition or something ... I guess I am off to Walgreens now to print off some of those pics again to send in ... the bad thing is I forgot to put the setting on the camera when I was there to show the date correct .. but the RFE says they will accept non dated pictures so that is good. I think the entry/exit stamps from the Philippines is what they are really wanting.

Good! You've got something you can quickly turn around. :) Did you send itineraries/boarding pass copies? That'll put a date on things, too.

You're sending things back extra speedy/tracked, right? :)

Hey Ian and Lisa ,

Yup I added the boarding passes, hotel receipt, interneries again ... I included those with the original petition but I am wondering if part of my packet got lost or separated from my petition. Because in the RFE it also lists a section about pictures together .. but I think it refers to showing proof you met in person the past 2 years.

Anyway, I included boarding passes again, hotel receipt, intenery, and this time I also included a bank statement showing the ATM withdrawls I made there as well as the credit card statement paying the hotel stay. I also printed off another 10 pictures of her and I.

They also sent back 2 of the 4 G-325 papers I sent ... silly me forgot to sign 2 of them ... how the hell did I sign 2 and not the other 2 ... I must of really got side tracked or something that day I was working on the G-325 :bonk:

I will be making my way to fed ex this morning and over nighting the RFE ... with luck we will have a approval by the end of this next week or early the following week.

I sure hope you guys make it out of AP soon Ian and Lisa ... we will say a prayer for you guys!!

Quick question for you all ...

Did any of you include pictures that didn't have the time and date imprinted on the picture?

Unfourtantly I am don't know much about camera's, matter of fact I only bought this camera for the purpose of taking pictures with her and I when I was there.

On the bottom of the RFE it says include "film dated photographs of you and your fiance when last you met"

The problem is the camera setting was defaulted to not include the time and date and I didn't realize this until now and it won't allow me to add the date and time now after the fact to reprint and send the pictures. I read the manual and it sounds like date and time is engraved into the image at the time of taking the picture. However on the digital screen it shows the correct date when the picture was taken ... anyone know how I can get this date to show up when the picture is printed??? I am a little worried now .. I would hope they wouldn't deny us because the pictures are not time dated ... I mean I have the passport with the exit/entry stamps from March and April of this year when I was with her. I also included bank statements showing atm with drawls and also the credit card statement showing the payment to the hotel. Maybe I am just a little over paranoid now because of this whole RFE thing ..

But on the bottom of the page it in bold it says :

Provide film dated photographs ..... which we don't have because the camera won't imprint when I print them out now ..

and

Sign the enclosed Form G-325A forms.

What kind of camera do you have?

RFE= A good thing, it means your very close to an apporval. I wouldn't let yourself get too worried. If you absolutly cannot get the camera to show the dates than I would resubmit the pictures with a note saying as much.

Try this. I've done some reading unless your camera had the date/time function on when you took the picture there is no way to go back and change it on the pictures themselves. However the date/time is still coded somewhere into the jpeg. The program that I linked above will read the date/time that's saved to the jpeg and stamp your picture.

This however might be considered "editing" which is something you're not allowed to do. I think it might be okay because the program isn't taking your input to decide when the picture was taken but rather reading information that is already saved somewhere in the picture. But who knows.

None of our pictures have a time/date stamp.

I stapled the picture to a page of paper and put the date, location, and who was in the photo below it. I did three per page, two pages/six pictures.

I typed out exactly what our RFE said in another thread .. I'll post it here as well so you all know what it looked like hehe .... it has be confused a little .. I can't tell if they are demanding imprinted photos of her and I or what .. I think or my gut feeling tells me they just want my passport showing the stamps ... but at this point I am a little gun shy and I just want this to be right before I send this back to them ...here is what the RFE said ...

Passport : The petitioner and the beneficiary must have met in person between April 30, 2007 and April 29, 2009. If the petitioner met with the beneficiary in a country other than the benefificiary's country of residence, then it must be shown that both the petitioner and the bene were visiting the same place at the same time. Please submist a copy of the petitioner's US passport, all pages ( with or without stamps ) including identification page.

Note: If there are no admission stamps in your passport, please submit the following 1) a copy of the petitioners US passport, all pages 2) indicate in a letter that no stamps were put into your passport, and 3) evidence of meeting your fiance within the two year period immediatly preceding the filing of this petition, other than what has orginally been submitted. Such evidence may include ATM and credit card transactions, flight itinerary on a airplane/travel agency letterhead only, hotel receipts, etc. The following DOES NOT constitute evidence of meeting: letters, phone bills, and greeting cards.

Meeting in Person : The petitioner and the beneficiary must have met in person within the 2 year period prior to filing of this petition. Please submit FILM DATED PHOTOGRAPHS of the petitioner and the beneficiary together. NOTE: USCIS will accept non dated photos if dated photos are not available. However, if no photos are available, please submit any evidence that will help USCIS to determine that the petitioner has physically met the beneficiary in person within two years.

Foreign Documents : Any document written in or containing another language other than English shall be submitted with a full English translation ( including any and all admission and departure stamps). The translator must certify that the translation is complete and accurate and that he or she is competent to translate.

PROVIDE FILM DATED PHOTOGRAPHS OF YOU AND YOUR FIANCEE WHEN LAST YOU MET.

SIGN THE ENCLOSED FORM G-325A

The decision of whether to approve or deny the petition will be based upon the type(s) of evidence sumitted and its credibility.

Thanks for the replys guys and gals ... I am thinking after reading your comments that its the passport stamps that they are really concerned about and the other stuff is just "if" you don't have the stamps ... appreciate the help and comments :)

SS-

I think the passport stamps are what they're looking for. And, as others have said---boarding passes, hotel receipts, etc. Anything with dates proving you were in her country/region/town.

Good luck!

Oh-and I didn't have dates on my camera either. I just included passport copies, etc, etc along with the pictures. On the back of the pictures I wrote the month I knew it was taken, the location, and the names of anyone in the photos (i.e. his sister, cousin, uncle, etc.).

Random-but Lamine's sister is getting married today! His entire family has called me today, but the music is so loud, I've had to yell over the phone. Wish I could be there. Lamine and I attended a few wedding celebrations together when I was in Senegal, and it's so easy for me to imagine myself with him right now. He said the same thing. It's his youngest sister getting married today, and he said that he just about cried when he first saw her all dressed up with her hair done and everything. I bet she was beautiful! Yay for weddings!

About photos, it doesn't look like dated photos are required as long as there is other evidence such as passport stamps, boarding passes, etc. (based on the note "NOTE: USCIS will accept non dated photos if dated photos are not available. However, if no photos are available, please submit any evidence that will help USCIS to determine that the petitioner has physically met the beneficiary in person within two years.")

We submitted non dated photos. On the back of the photos, I wrote who is on the photo, place, and the date it was taken.

I think it's a very good idea that you are sending boarding passes, itineraries, etc again, and most important, copies of stamps in your passport. So, they have all the evidence in the same place.

I understood now you have: copies of stamps in your passport, boarding passes, hotel receipt, itinerary, and a bank statement showing the ATM withdrawals there, and photos. It looks good to me.

P.S. Do you have something (like a receipt) that has Jenelyn's name on it? Does hotel receipt have her name on it? For example, we had a hotel receipt on Maarten's name and then the receipt with my name from the lounge in the same hotel. I do think that what you have is enough, just thought of additional evidence that you were together.

At the risk of sounding redundant, I just wanted to add that we also did not send dated photos either. I hate photos with the date stamped on them. lol We did a similar thing to endoftheroad, and had them attached to a page with a caption by each one explaining when and where the photo was taken.

We didn't have any passport stamps to show travel, because they're not generally required for short visits between US/Canada, so we had hotel receipts, itineraries, and boarding passes instead. It may have helped that we had actually MET each other and started our relationship within the last 2 years as well (for example our story of how we met was within the last 2 years, but a story isn't 'proof'... it just supported the relationship I guess)... I think we even had a pic of us outside of Red Lobster, with a dated copy of the receipt beside it. At least we were thinking of doing that... I can't remember if he actually sent it in that way, but that's an idea.

And, attaya, I'm sorry you had to miss Lamine's sister's wedding. (F) That's really cute that they all called you though. lol Were they able to take any pics that you could see?

ashen-It's really ok. I wish I could be there, but I know I'll see them all soon. We're keeping it a secret from his family, though, and Lamine's just going to bring me home from the airport and wait to see the expresions on their faces :) The only person we're telling is his uncle (as head of the household) and I know he can keep a secret. They all think I'm coming around November. Surprise.....
