Good morning!

ashenflowers-congrats on NVC receiving your case!

endoftheroad-I hope your case really did get pushed through to the next step.

maverick-I'm sorry it's taking you so long for your case to get to NVC. You may want to check the NVC thread and ask over there about longer arrival times. I remember seeing one person who waited 48 days for their case to be received. I hope it's not the same for you.

SS-anything on the RFE front yet?

Lisa-any updates?

Hope everyone is well.

Lamine is traveling back to Dakar today from his home town in the southern part of the country. He said good-bye to his sisters and his mother. :( Please keep your fingers crossed that he arrives safely. There's been a lot of violence (land mines, etc) in that area over the past few months and they target this road. He should be out of that area soon, though, and into the safer part of the route.

As far as the visa journey goes, he's calling for his medical first thing Monday morning (Friday is a holy day and many businesses are closed). Hopefully he gets an appointment quickly. There are only two doctors in Senegal who are approved by the embassy

It sounds like the beneficiaries are calling NVC, as either the petitioner or beneficiary can, to change the beneficiaries address so that when the consulate receives the package from NVC, package 3 from the consulate will be sent to the correct address of the beneficiary.

Don't know if that is correct, but if only a US citizen is allowed to submit a petition for entry to the US, it seems like only that person should be able to make changes to it. Otherwise the chances for fraud are elevated. I don't want anyone making a change to my petition but me, a US citizen.

Your best bet is to call NVC about an address change for the beneficiary, to catch the petition before it heads to the consulate so that you can ensure that the beneficiary will actually receive Packet 3 if they have moved. At least at NVC you get to speak to a live person, most consulates do not have that option.

I understand what you are saying, but NVC has allowed the petitioner OR the beneficiary to call about the status of your case. They were very friendly with me and I was the beneficiary, and they usually asked a few questions to confirm who was calling, sometimes not though, and just ask for the WAC # .

sigh... Yes... this is exactly the case. as minnew pointed out. The BENEFICIARY, me, calling to change MY OWN address, on MY OWN case, which is certainly not fraudulent in any way. I'm not a random foreigner trying to change the petitioner's address (which I can understand would be inappropriate, but as said, that is NOT the situation). I AM changing MY address asap with them to make sure that I receive the Packet 3 at the right place, because I moved a few streets away, in the same city, mere DAYS before we got the NOA2, and it's too important a document to allow to be lost in the mail. I will call them, yet again, today to try to change my address again.

Attaya, I am sending good vibes for the safe arrival of Lamine!! And that he can get his medical quickly. So many loose ends to tie up for this! Good luck to all of us!

ashen-good luck on changing the address! That seems silly to me. I changed Lamine's address with no problems. That's ridiculous. Hope it works out!

Lamine just called and he's driving through the Gambia right now and is out of the dangerous part of the road. It's the rainy season, though, and it's taking them forever to get there on all the dirt roads. Poor guy is going to be on that bus for another 8-10 hours and has already been traveling for 10 hours.

Cool!

My girls were burglarized yesterday for the third time in six months, this time stealing the $100 battery from their ebike (1. their laptop, 2. the entire contents of her house she was renting out). On top of that the family of my girl's deceased father is trying to take all his money and house away, even though the divorce paper says it is supposed to go to my girls. :(

Called USCIS for an update on the NOA2 letter they said they were resending, and they said I would have to apply for a new one ($300+)! What BS!! They already told me twice before that they would resend it.

Checked the second DHL package being sent to the consulate and it is still delayed. The consulate told me to call back Monday.

BAD NEWS FRIDAY FOR US.

That is very bad news endoftheroad. Hopefully everything keeps moving along so that all the trouble's they had in China can become a distant memory.

Attaya - Where is Lamine going?

I got an e-mail this morning confirming my medical so woohoo for that, checked the mail however and did not receive packet 3 or my interview letter, so I'm praying I get them both next weeks so I won't have any trouble at the consulate and medical about not having those papers.

Hey Attaya ... nothing in the mail today other than junk mail ... hopefully tomorrow ... today was the very earliest I expected it ... what is odd is I got a touch the day after I got the email stating the RFE and our petition was put on "suspense" until either we reply to the RFE or the time allowed has passed to respond ... my guess is the touch the day after is either it was the RFE was actually mailed on August 12th instead of the 11th ( which prompted the new touch on the 12th) or the 12th they entered something putting our petition into suspense ... all this waiting and waiting is driving me nuts ... I sure hope after this RFE things smooth out for us. A person can only take so much, especially being so far from the person you truely love so much.

Have a great weekend you all ... I'll post any update tomorrow after the mail comes in ... ** crosses his fingers **

Oh my goodness.

I'm so sorry, guys. I feel like there has been little good news floating around the April thread as of late. I hope that good news comes soon for everyone--Lisa, SS, endoftheroad....

endoftheroad-I'm so sorry (F) I know that when Lamine's house was destroyed, I felt beyond helpless. I can't imagine going through that multiple times in a few months. I hope your girls are all right and that everything works out soon.

Hope everyone is doing well--all things considered (F)

Lamine is still on the bus. It apparently broke down and everyone was sleeping on the side of the road for a few hours before attempting to get going again. He sounded so sleepy when I talked with him-he was slurring and he wasn't entirely awake. So cute :) Feel bad for him, though.

Hope everyone has a good weekend! This weekend, I'm preparing for Lamine's arrival and for my visit to Senegal--deep cleaning my apartment, grocery shopping, buying gifts for his family, and printing pictures of the area where I live so that his family can see where he's moving.
