We just got email notification of our NoA2 last night, they sent a written one on 22JUL but I was past my mail cutoff date in deployment hahahah, that's good news though, should mean the NVC phase would nearly be finished by now. My fiancee is resting comfortably on the bed while I type this, she flew in from Sydney last week and got through LAX no problems, we were so afraid customs would give her a hard time, she prepared all this paperwork to prove she intended to return to Australia -- she didn't even get pulled aside into secondary, they rushed her off to catch her connecting flight :) About one more month of this and flying all over the planet and we should be done..

Happily married, waiting to file to remove conditions on permanent residence in next 2 years.

Yes, i suppose it may be a good idea to get the i-130 and the i-485 going....

I-130? Why?

Right. You don't need the I-130. If you arrive as a K-1 and get married within the 90 days you don't need an I-130 - you file based on your status as a K-1 (approved I-129f petition). If for some reason you don't get married within the 90 days, then you would file an I-130 - a spousal petition - as you can no longer adjust status based on the K-1 status.

So - don't worry about the I-130 - look at the I-485 and what it requires. That is what you will need. Another word of caution - consider filing to adjust status sooner rather than later, preferably before your 90 days expires. The K-1 give you permission to enter the US, get married, and apply to remain in the US; it is the AOS, however, that gives you permission to stay in the US after your marriage. Your status in the US is only valid as long as the I-94 (good for 90 days) that will be stapled in your passport when you arrive until you file to adjust status.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Sorry to get off topic, but the embassy e-mailed Lamine and I packet 3 this morning!!!!!!

I can't believe how quickly this is going.....

We don't have to mail in any of the paperwork-we just bring everything with us to the embassy! That will cut down on two weeks of time with me mailing stuff to him. This way I can just bring it with me when I fly over there!

Woo-hoo!

Ahhh, just the i-485 and the work authorization one? I can see the logic cause the i-130 is the first bit for spouses, and we did the first bit for the fiance i-129!!! Oh Ok! Jeeezzz, good thing I have this forum....lol. I may have to do more reading! lol.

Our plan is to get the marriage license (and hopefully certified copy) the day after my girls arrive. Spend the next two weeks unpacking and finishing up the I-485s and filing them (EAD, AP, etc.). The third week is time for getting the girls SS Cards. Just doing the K-1 boogie.

Sorry to get off topic, but the embassy e-mailed Lamine and I packet 3 this morning!!!!!!

WAHOOOOO YAHOOOOO!!!!! You are seriously going to be married and living in the USA together in September!

Hope you get an approval soon! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

I'm so excited to see Lamine again! I'm a little disappointed because we're actually going to have to put the breaks on it a little. I have to be at my work for the week of the 24th, so we're probably going to have to sit tight and wait until the 27th before we can call the embassy to schedule the interview. Oh well. Hopefully he'll have his medical by the middle of next week! Then, I'm off to Senegal to see him again!   We'll barely miss spending our anniversary together, but that's all right. endoftheroad--we will be married and together during the month of September :)

I cannot believe how fast this is going....
