Hello everyone, im new to this site but have browsed it many times when in need of advice during this lengthy process. my husband and i had our aos interview yesterday in manhattan. our appointment was at 9:20 and we finally got called at about 2:00pm. the officer who interviewed us was very professional. she asked very simple questions-do i know my husbands family members names, does he know my family, how did we meet.. it lasted about 10 min. after swearing in. then she asked if we had any mail with both of our names on it and we failed to bring it- but we had 5 yrs of apt leases in the same apt! she said it would be ok if we could rush home and get some mail and bring it back to her. when we left she handed us a paper that she already had prepared that said: your case is being held for review in order to prepare a decision, no additional info is needed....please allow 60 days from today date. we hurried home got the mail and caught her in the hallway before she left and gave it to her. she put it in our file and then we left. im so confused? she told us she had to leave early that day but i dont know if we passed or failed? prior to this everything happened quite smoothly.

Hey Lulu,

My husband and I had our interview at Federal Plaza on March 11..we didn't have to wait as long as you (we were actually called in 10 minutes early) but had a very similar experience. The officer was very nice and laughed a lot with us..the interview felt more like a conversation than anything else, and it seemed to go incredibly well. We had all of our information, and he asked for it, but seemed rather flippant about it, and I really thought he was going to approve us. At the end, we got the same notice as you (60 days, no additional info needed, etc.) and he wrote some stuff in my husband's passport. Now, exactly three weeks later, we haven't heard a thing..nothing in the mail or through CRIS. It seems to me that Federal Plaza is just really slow to approve. I wish you the best, and please cross your fingers for us, too!

5-13-09: Green card approved.

6-24-09: Received green card.

8-13-11: Received 10-year green card.

2-21-12: Sent N-400 to Dallas Lock box.

7-18-12: Naturalization interview (passed!).

i really have no clue why people are not prepared when its about their future...its one thing to make mistakes that can happen to everybody...but when i have to deal with the goverment i inform myself and be prepared to avoid such situations...

and what is so difficult to read the interview letter..put the stuff what they want together and bring it to them...

the interview is not a nice small talk with chicken and a beer...u have to prove the bona fide of ur marriage wich all kind of evidence u have...what is so hard to do this?!?!?!!?

You are being harsh. Actually, I don't have any mails addressed to both of us except utility bills, which I started printing online a while ago, so they are not exactly mails. Now this really made me worried.

You are fine lulu77. You are lucky that the officer gave you time to get what is lacking. What is important now is for you to receive your greencard. It will definitely come soon in the mail. Congrats!

You are indeed being really harsh. As humans, we are prone to make mistakes no matter how well prepared we are. So quit passing judgment and chill out!

Goldfee111 might sound harsh, but the bottom line is you got a really good chance to find the AOS lady. He is right tho, you should have thought about it. A piece of mail with yall's name or adress change form reply from post office should be the least to prove same adress. I think you are fine tho. This should be a lesson to anyone else waiting. It adds to the groups experience.

In my case I brought all the evidence we had together. Better be overly prepared. Some people got demied for much less than that. I'm thinking maybe puting " That was easy at the interview and they did not need any evidences" gets people to be over confident.

All Goldfee111 is saying is just take it your life depended on it, because in a way it does otherwise no one would be going through the hasle...

I'm sure you will hear a good news despite the Hickup ;)

Thanks. What I have is over a hundreds of pics with me and amy and her faimily(no wedding pics, as we had a civil wedding. I am trying to capture some pics from the wedding dvd and print them out), all bills under our name, joint lease for the past two years, joint checking account, joint credit cars, joint car title (with different address, amy wants to keep her parents address there as we move about once a year), joint dl with the same address, mails addressed to us separately with the same address, joint tax return, a touching letter amy wrote me a year ago, we might be able to find some christmas cars her parents wrote us, but we are not sure we can find them at the moment. I don't know if we still need more.

Goldfee111, I think you sounded a little harsh cuz you jumped to the conclusion too fast, it seems that they only didn't have mails and they might have a lot of other evidence. I mean, if it wasn't this post, I didn't think i was missing that too. Now that I realized it, I am still not able to provide that(besides utility bills). I mean, common, it is not like our friends and family will write us mails these days. Each case is different. They must be really prepared and serious about the interview, but that was something they overlooked.
