Asking about replacement of middle name in SSN?

Hello, guys! It`s been a month that I haven`t posted here but now I am back and asking again for some important matter.

Yesterday I applied for SSN here in my place and I was confused about what middle name what to put in my SSN card, my husband told me to use my middle name when I was still single because he said it was the practice here in USA. So, I did it, but in my heart I really want to use my last name as my middle name when I was still single in my new status now as married woman. Also this week we will be sending my AOS application and I put there my last name when I was single like the practices in Philippine culture if a woman got married they automatically became their last name as middle name and their last name from their husband name, that`s what I want to do also in my AOS .Now, I have confusion because in my AOS Application I use my last name when I was single as my middle name and my husband last name as my new name.

My question is , " Can I still change my middle name I put in my SSN card application? Because I want it to be similar in the middle name I will be using in my AOS. Could this create conflicts if I do that? Or just let it be and follow the middle name I use in my SSN?

Thanks and hoping to get some answer and ideas what to do. God bless and have a great day!

We made the same mistake when we first got Marlene's SSC. We used her Mother's maiden name as her middle name rather than moving her father's family name to the middle name. We made the same mistake on the I-485 application. We corrected the mistake at the AOS interview and her father's family name was used as her middle name. Once we got the permanent resident card with the new middle name, we were able to get the middle name corrected on the SSC at the same time we removed the SSC restrictions.

This topic will likely cause confusion in this forum as it is specific to the naming conventions for the Philippines. Perhaps it would best if it were moved to the Philippine forum

Hi there,

I just submitted my AOS and done with SSN.I used my surname/last name when I was single as my middle name and my married name/husband's last name as my last name to all the documents/forms I signed.AOS,EAD,AP forms,State ID,and SSN.I followed the Philippine way so I won't have problems in the future.

My hubby told me that here in the U.S. my middle name will be my maiden name when I was single but I told him I will not do that because it's different in PI.So I used my last name when I was single as my middle name.

You could change your SS name once you received your EAD.
