Getting drunk would solve the issue if they actually let drunk people board the planes. :P

They do, Laura, trust me - you just have to be skilled in masking it. ;)

Being nervous doesn't make the flight any safer. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the flight.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Senate Floor Speech on Public Debt

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Me too. For the real fear of flying though, I suggest drinking heavily.

Wish I had a switch on my brain so I could turn it off, the other problem is that my watch slows way down taking an hour to advance one second. Not sure if spending an hour and forty-five minutes locked up tight in an MRI after my accident is worse than an eight hour flight, but today, that MRI is wide open and takes about 15 minutes, airlines have become worse. Feel it a bad joke when the flight attendant says to upright your seat back, dang thing only moves about 2".

Not only that long boring airplane ride, but you have to get their 3 hours earlier for your flight standing in long lines, half dead before you even board the plane only to be jammed like a sardine. Surprised they don't supply people horns like shoe horns to be seated.

Which one? We'll go through Guarulhos, not Congonhas (Congonhas being the one where the TAM flight crashed).

Damian, if you're a good drunk they wouldn't really notice, but some people can't hold their liquor.:P

Seriously though, flying isn't that bad when it's just one leg, no connections. It's all the go through security, board, up, down, get off, wait, go through security, board, up, down, get off, wait, ... that makes it annoying.

Guarulhos - customs takes forever there.

We once connected through Guarulhos and got stuck in the terminal from about 8pm - 4am, with 3 young kids. That was a nightmare. Everybody bawling and screaming, no place to sit, no food concessions open after about midnight.... ick!

I'm flying to Brazil in July to see the kids. They live in Recife. Thankfully, for once I don't need to connect by overshooting south via SP or RJ, and then double-back north. This time my connection is Chicago-Atlanta-Fortaleza-Recife. Still have 3 hops but should be better.

Damn, I know Guarulhos is busy as heck during certain hours, especially early mornings and nights when the majority of international flights are arriving/leaving I just didn't know it was THAT bad. Last time I flew through São Paulo I went through Congonhas.

Before that I'd always fly Rio, and Galeão is such a clean, organized airport, customs is fast and it's pretty much hassle free everytime.

The airport I had the most trouble with (in Brazil) was Brasília, it was a bit hectic and I had a layover of about 4 hours in which I heard innumerous flights being delayed and a lot more having gates changed with people moving in packs each time the gate changed.

Miami's security check is kinda crazy too, the lines are humongous.
