Hi!

We’re a bit confused when it comes to form I-134 Affidavit of Support. What kind of evidence do you have to provide with it? The form itself only mentions providing a letter from the employer and statement from the bank, but seems people on VJ are mentioning pay stubs, tax return, W-2 (just as when filing for I-864). Should we prepare the same kind of evidence for I-134 as for I-864 even though the form itself doesn’t mention tax return, W2, pay stubs etc?

Many thanks!!!!

if the income is above the poverty guideline, then just provide the following and nothing more

I-134 Form

Letter from employer (if possible, some company don't give these out)

2008 Income Tax return

2008 W2

3 prior years of tax return transcripts (can get these by calling IRS or sending a form, you can get the form from the IRS website)

recent pay stubs

Thanks!!!

So that means we have to add income tax return, W2 etc to I-134 and not only with I-864 later on when we file for AOS.

So happy we have VJ and can get advice from others! Would be very lonely and hard doing this on our own!

Thanks!!!! :D

More or less, yes. If your income exceeds the poverty guidelines by 125% or more you do not need to do more than verify income. Attach the 2008 tax return with w-2s, 1099s, or schedule C if self employed, letter from employer, and check stubs for maybe 2 months before the interview. That will be all you need. I would suggest the bank letter only if self employed, unable to get an employment letter.
