I was reading in another thread, for another type of Visa, that the Visa holder could still enter the US and return to Canada although the Visa has been issued. So, is it possible to NOT activate it until a later date?

For example... our interview is 4/16. Let's say he comes to the US for Memorial weekend b/c we have a family event in PA. Can he come in to the US but NOT activate his Visa on that trip? Or, is he basically "banned" (for lack of a better term) from entering the US until the Visa is activated???

Soooo many questions.....

Event Date

ROC

9/24/11 - Mailed I-751 packet to CSC

9/26/11 - NOA1 Receipt Date

9/28/11 - Check cashed

10/1/11 - NOA1 arrived in mail

3/19/12 - RFE

5/3/12 - RoC APPROVED!!!

Technically, he is supposed to activate the visa if it is in his passport, however he may be able to enter without activating it. It will literally be up to the border official's discretion when he arrives at the border if he will let him in without activating the visa or require him to activate it. If you can live with the uncertainty of him not being able to make it, he can certainly try and cross without activating it. If the border official agrees to let him in without activating it, fine, if not, then c'est la vie, and he can turn around and go back into Canada without entering the US until he is ready to use the visa.
