Hi, I am finally getting all of my documents together to send in the I-130 to Rome, but I was wondering how to work out the payment. The cashiers check has to come from a bank with a U.S. affiliation? I guess that means we can't use an assegno circolare or a vaglia from the post office?

What method did you use for paying the fee?

Thanks!

each individual consulate will dictate how they want payment tendered for I-130's filed with them for DCF. have you checked with them directly or via there website?

YMMV

Call the US Embassy in Rome and ask them if they have a list of banks in Italy with US affilation. Alternatively (and this is what I did), if you have family in the US, just ask them to get a money order or cashier's check from a bank in the US and have them send it over to you via FedEx; it only takes 2-3 working days. That way they can cash it without any problems whatsoever.

Now if my wife's A-File from the US could just get to the Embassy so quickly... I sent the petition in more than a month and a half ago and they are still waiting for that damn A-File to show up.

And yes, this means no vaglia from Poste Italiane... :)
