Employment Letter - Advice?

My employer won't send me my Letter of Employment for the Affidavit; instead, they insist on sending it directly to the Embassy in London *sigh* - anyone ever heard of this? I work for the big mouse ears ... I wonder if they've done this with others' visa situations (as people from all around the world work here) and know something I don't know, because that letter is crucial and I HATE not having it (I already did the pouty "why not" and "but I need it" dances with HR on the phone, they're still not givin' it up, LOL - gotta laugh or I'll cry). :girlwerewolf2xn:

Oh, also ... for #11 on the Affidavit, "I intend/do not intend to make contributions ..." - what on EARTH does one put? Some older posts on VJ say to state "N/A", but I'd like to be sure. That question has been driving me nuts.

Thanks in advance!

I dont think it matters who sends the letter the only key is that the barcoded coversheet be with your documents. So ask your HR Dept to send it with the coversheet it or else just hand it over to you.

I deal with two HR depts., the one here in Anaheim (LOL, some help - they told me Florida handles the letters), and the one in Orlando (who said they don't send them to employees, only to the institution they're supposed to go to - *groan*).

For #11 use the example form as a guide. dont check either box, put in: N/A ( K1 visa process for permanent residence )

No doubt a company policy designed to protect the from parasitic attorneys, it can ONLY be. You have two options. Ask them for a "copy" of what they send to London. OR go without a letter. Employer letters are NOT required. Lat year's tax return, your w-2 and current check stubs should be fine. Look many people, even a large nuber of K-1 filers are self employed and have no "employer" to write a letter at all and they get their visas. You just need to submit other evidence.

Pouty "why not's" ??? :crying: Ewwwwwwwww. That never works. :bonk: Never try that with a Ukrainian woman. I doubt it works with Brits either, I mean, imagine, try to combine "pouty why not's" and "Winston Churchill" in a sentence.

About providing support, I always suggest you answer "If she is a good little wifey and does what I say" But I hear that "NA, K-1 visa" also works.

Pardon a moi. I did not see you ARE the woman. OK, well, then consider my advice given to all the MEN that will readd this post. hehehehe.

"Pouty why not" accepted, still not fashionable with Brits though, keep a stiff upper lip and go without the letter if need be.

Lots of companies in the US don't produce letters of employment. It's not something that is used as much in the US.

In Europe, you need a letter verifying your employment for just about everything.

In New Zealand, no one cares about where you work.

In the US, they tend to use credit ratings for everything.

Recent pay statements should be enough to verify your salary.

Btw folks, I was kidding about the pouty dance (a sense of humor really is required to get through all of this, right?). I did ask them why HR policy was to not send people Letters of Employment, but they didn't have an answer, so I left it. I appreciate all the help, and thanks Ed + Cindy for your input, I feel much, much better now.
