Hello everyone,

I was curious to see who else is also counting the days until the 15th along with me.

I feel more and more nervous as the date approaches and I thought perhaps I can share the anxiety and provide comfort with others who are also interviewing that day!

I've booked the hotel and the rental car. I've yet to gather the maps and pack for the trip.

My husband just FedEx all of of the paperwork, photos..etc. that I need for the interview and I'm trying to figure out a best way to present it.

Do they ask for evidence of support for a bona fide marriage when you're called the first time to the window? Do I give them the photos and Gmail summary...etc. or just the passport/mailer/photo/interview letter/tax return 2008...etc. that they've listed on the interview letter?

I'm a nervous wreck and I'd bring everything I own to the interview if I could and all the preparation is not calming my nerves. I think I'm burning holes in my stomach with my anxiety!

Anyone else out there with a 15th date?

I don't have an interview on the 15th, but mine is coming up soon on the 29th! Trust me, you are not alone in feeling anxious! It may be helpful for you to read some of the reviews users have posted about their interviews at in Montreal consulate. This one by to_hope is quite recent and detailed, and its for the same visa as yours:

Before your actual interview, you'll be processed by one of the consulate workers. She basically ensures that all of the required documents are in order and will take your finger prints. She does not want to see any of your supporting documents (personal pictures, emails etc), she is only interested in the tax information, etc that was listed in the interview letter. Place your documents in order that they are listed in the letter. She will also ensure that you have the correct size xpresspost mailer. Place that at the end of your documents. Once you've finished with her and all the required documents are in order, you'll wait until called for your interview.

That's about it. Good luck and enjoy la Belle Province.

Remember that the consulate door is on the side of Rene Levesque Blvd, it doesn't actually open onto the main street.

At top of page you wil see "Reviews: Embassy/" click on it,then select CANADA,then FIND ENTRIES, you wil find many revierws of Montreal (mixed in with Vancouver and k1, k3 reviews)

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

MORE QUESTIONS FOR THE BIG DAY!

1. Do I fill in the mailing label for the Xpresspost envelope before I submit it? At least the TO: area? Or will they do it for me? Or give me a chance to fill it out? What do I write for FROM:?

2. My daughter was born in the U.S. and from a previous marriage (her father passed away before she was born). Therefore I am the only one applying for a visa.

My husband plans on officially adopting her when we return. Should I have him prepare and affidavit stating that as his wish and that he is aware she is a part of our marriage and family?

Thanks!!!

I waited until I was at the Consulate to fill it out. But I was dumb and forgot to write down the tracking number. Make sure you keep a copy of that so you can check when your visa is in the mail. You can probably just put your information on the To: part, but I'd wait for them to write in the From: part since they may have a particular mailing address that they use.

I guess you could have him do that, but I don't think its necessary. They're not really there to judge how your family will operate together. As with all things though, if it will make your feel more confident the day of your interview, go ahead and do that. Anything to feel more settled isn't a bad thing.

Now if you're getting a CR-1 visa, and have to remove conditions in 2 years, the adoption would certainly be good information to send with the application as proof of your continuing marital relationship.

Thanks!!!

Cat is right..don't fill out the FROM part, only the TO part. I filled out both and took the copy so I would have the tracking number...that did not go over well and they let me know it. They ended up covering up the FROM part with white-out and putting in another address..opps

Good luck!!

Thank you thank you! This is SO helpful! I didn't even think of taking down the tracking number. I just made a note of it and the tip to which door actually opens to the consulate helps too. I'll be sure to look for the door on Boulevard Rene-Levesque. If any of you think of anything else, let me know~

MrsCat - yes, I am applying for the CR-1 and our 2nd year anniversary is coming up on June 2nd.
