CSIS Clearance instead of police check?

I'm about to have a CSIS clearance done for my new job. At the time of my interview, it will be less than one year old, unless we get delayed. This is like, the UBER criminal background check. I was wondering if anyone knew if they'd accept a copy of this instead of a police check, or if I'll have to do a police check specifically for immigration?

March 13, 2009--Visa application handed to the post office.

March 16, 2009--Visa application received by Vermont Service Centre at 11:01 am. Let's hope that he actually put in everything he thought he did and they don't send it back to us!!

March 23, 2009--Got the whole package back. The cheque was apparently filled out incorrectly, thanks to the fact that his moronic flatmates helped him and instructed him wrong for the first cheque he ever filled out.

March 30, 2009--NOA1

August 12, 2009--Touched

September 1, 2009, received Package 1 from Montreal--but where is our NOA2???

I remember when I went to go get mine there were 2 forms, 1 for work-related needs and the oter was for immigration and such.

As long as it says that they did a Canada-wide name check in the database and it says Criminal Records search then I can't see why not.

I'd verify with the Police department that it can be used in both instances.

Removing Conditions

Sent package to VSC - 8/12/11

NOA1 - 8/16/11

Biometrics - 9/14/11

I'm not sure what my CSIS will say for sure. I'll probably end up calling USCIS or whatever and asking. It just seems to me that a CSIS would be EVEN BETTER than a criminal records check, since they literally check everything, including sealed records you had as a young offender.

My guess is that USCIS will say it must be a Police Certificate. For no other reason, than they don't like anything outside of their rules. Even if it makes complete sense to everyone else. No harm in checking though.

I worked for an MP who was a member of the Privy Council and needed a special level security clearance as well. I was provided with a copy of my clearance at the time. I included it as supporting evidence to go along with the RCMP Canada wide search document I requested and sent in both. The first basically said I was cleared for security level XX. The RCMP document stated no criminal record was found during a Canada wide search. You might want to see what the security clearance document from CSIS says first.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
