Atlanta for me was so smooth and quick (+/- 30 minutes) i still can't believe it!

I guess it all depends on the officer you're dealing with...

I would say it depends on the time of day you arrive--the airline schedule. I hate Miami all the international flights seem to arrive at once--so its crowded and hot, and you must return back to the terminal from the street once you clear customs/immigration and start through the long lines of TSA security drones, and this makes the connecting flights a pain.

Atlanta on the other hand at least for the Lima to Atlanta non-stop you arrive at like 8 am and your like the only flight to arrive at that time. So there is not any line and you are still inside the airport--so making the connecting flight is very easy.

Came through JFK with my Fiancee

It was a walk in the park, no problem. The CO took the brown envelope took us to this back room that look like a small courtroom, the only thing no judge but the officers behind the desk, wait for a few than call her up, remind us to get married before 90 days and we were on our way.

Gone but not Forgotten!

My fiance came through JFK and was in and out in 15 minutes, no problem.

However, someone on the ME/NA board had a huge problem with Atlanta here recently. They grilled her husband for hours and threatened to send him back. Just FYI.

We went through Boston and it was very easy...process took less than 10 minutes. Our only complaint was that the officials were very grumpy (probably due to it being late in the evening).

  • 3 weeks later...

No problem at Newark July 13th - a very nice officer walked me to an elevator, he wished me welcome to the US. Then to the immigration office in the elevator, I handed the officers the brown envelope, passport and customs form. Only ten minutes to wait and then I signed and did the finger print for the green card, and that was it!

I had expected much longer waiting time and maybe some questions. But it was all done in 25 minutes, the longest waiting time was at the immigration desks after I left the air craft... And the officers were all polite and nice.

Philadelphia in May 2006 was a BREEZE. I was the only one there, no waiting in line... just plain old basic waiting for whatever reason they never told me :) The actual processing took maybe 15 minutes, could have been less. A couple of very simple questions. Fingerprints. Examining my papers. On my merry way.

We came in at JFK -- the fellow at passport control had minor problems with his computer -- it wouldn't take her picture properly -- and we all had some pretty good chuckles. She got a temporary EAD.

It was fine, and we'd enter there again.
