Hi! :star: New here, but in the process of filing K3 for my husband in India.

Quick question:

We had a very small religious ceremony for marriage certificate purposes earlier this year. We have filed with this certificate. We have very few pictures and nothing with my siblings, his sibling (since they weren't there), or even the traditional picture by the fire.

Later this summer we are going to have the usual grand wedding/reception in India. We will of course have tons of pictures.

My question is what pictures to show in the interview? Do we show the "second" wedding pictures without mentioning the date? Or do we just state the truth, that we waited so everyone could attend and it was planned properly, etc?

Thanks! :innocent:

Agreed, just tell the truth...You did a small "non traditional" wedding first, then went back to have the full blown extravagansa with the whole family :D

"you fondle my trigger then you blame my gun"

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

yep, tell the truth. show your pics, whatever you have right now. tell them you have plans to conduct grand wedding soon.

don't hide anything, hiding something will look suspicious. they might end up denying your petition more.

Your marrige is evidenced by the marrige certificate. Married is married no matter what the actual event consisted of. It shouldnt require an explanation which is why they ask for the certificate.

These ideas of showing a thousand pictures comes from the K 1 process & not the K 3 type. We werent asked for any pictures & neither was anyone I know that got a K 3 . I have friends that got K 1s & they said the officers that interviewed them didnt want to see pictures either.

Check the Packet 3 instructions to see if they REQUIRE pictures. Those are the specific instructions for what they expect to see at the interview.

Wait, what?

"Walk the fire thing"

:wow: and I thought I will have a tough marriage ceremony.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS
