SO much better than Nemesis... there has been a serious slump in the movies but this one delivered IMHO. That's all I will say I don't want to spoil it for others.

Actually, I think the tradition must be broken. It had been that ever other movie was considered to be good, beginning with the second one, but this is number 11.

Brilliant movie. I am by no means a Trekkie but I have enjoyed the previous movies. This is definitely the best since wrath of khan.

They play just enough homage to the original, Scotty gets a "I'm giving it all she's got, captain!" and Bones gets his obligatory "Damn it I'm a doctor not a physicist!" moment. Apart fromt hat I thought they allowed the new cast some freedom, and most of them are better actors than the wooden originals. Action packed, humorous at the right times. I loved it and will no doubt see it again soon.

I enjoyed it and liked some of the characterisations - but thought the story was really very weak. Basically one big plot device to restart the series.

It only works because of the interplay between Kirk and Spock - and they had good casting (esp. Spock). Wasn't sure about Scotty being relegated to role of comedy sidekick - or Bones suddenly being Kirk's best mate (something I never got from the original cast).

I was watching Khan last week and feel that there was a very keen friendship between bones and kirk. I was never big on the original series so I can't speak for that but they definitely were close in the movies I remember.

Zachary Quinto was very good as spock.

I think that's only in that one movie though - they have a scene in Kirk's cabin where he gives Kirk some reading glasses as a birthday present and they have a discussion about how they're all getting old (which is much of the charm of the original cast).

They're also in prison together in #6 I think.

Obviously the main friendship is between Spock and Kirk and they play that well in the new movie. The other relationships are born out of years serving together and that mutual respect that goes along with it. The Kirk Spock friendship is deeper.

The scene in the cabin was the one I was thinking of.
