"Additional Processing" at NVC

My K-1 petition package arrived at NVC last Monday (3/23/09). I received the letter over the weekend saying that within a week the petition would be forwarded on to the embassy in Manila.

I called today to see if it had been sent on yet. I was told that my case was undergoing "additional processing" (not administrative processing). The person I talked to made it sould routine. Anyone know if there is a difference between additional processing and administrative processing?

Thanks.

Joining the thread is optional, I do however thoroughly recommend checking it out to get an idea of what being in AP at the NVC means in terms of the length of time before your case may be forwarded to the embassy. Uscandual has produced an awesome tool similar to Igors list to give an idea of who has been waiting how long.

As to why we end up there or what they do, it is all unknown.

Sorry you have ended up in this situation.

Yes, I was just joking that I didn't want to join the group waiting in AP. How do I get to Uscandual's tool? Thanks a lot. This is my first time in this sub-forum. Anybody know why they went into AP?

No idea...but we have filed a FOIS request...and one day when that turns up I will certainly be happy to say what it shows.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.
