You have to fill out the DS-156 online, to generate the bar code right? Is it ok to do this before recieving packet 3?

We got NOA2 3/23 and are waiting for NVC to recieve the petition and want to get a head start on the Packet 3 material.

Please let me know :)

Yes this is fine, the barcode contains the data entered into the form, the website does not keep any data, just uses the data entered to generate the barcode.

Moving to consulate/embassy forum.

Sorry! Didn't know if it depended on the Embassy!

Thanks for the answer!

packet 3 comes from the embassy. ;)

i would fill all the forms out now just so you know you have all the info they want, those forms take some patience. good luck. :)

Yes I know packet 3 comes from the embassy. But my question is about if it is ok to fill out DS-156 and generate the bar code before we have recieved packet 3, since currently London's packet 3 is nothing but a paper telling you where to download/fill out the forms.

i'm sure it will be fine if you do that. as long as none of the information changes i don't see why it would be a problem. i filled all of mine out in advance and then redid them before sending the forms in, but that's me. it was a relief to know that i had all the required info and that i had that bit out of the way! no doubt you will feel the same. :)
