I have submitted my AOS applications (from H1B) last Friday. I will be travelling abroad in July (10th) and will return only on Aug 1st. Since there is a slight chance that I either receive my interview letter or have my interview scheduled during this period, i would like to know the procedure to request USCIS to reschedule my interview. Is there a specific form I need to fill out with supporting evidence or do I have to just reply back to them with feasible interview date(s)? Thanks in advance!

Normally you would call them, however, I would strongly recommend not to miss the appointment or even re-schedule it.

I have seen a lot of horror stories here about people who did this...

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

Hi,

I would not recommend it either. It's risky, because that the local offices don't always get the rescheduled times. When we had our interview ,we heard one guy from Austria talking to the IO, their case was denied because they did not show up for the interview, but the guy's wife called to reschedule the interview time, and she did. But of course ,the local time did not get it and denied their case. He was lucky enough to get another interview at the spot.
