Hi All,

I'm kind of desperate for any advice.

I won the DV lottery last year and got an interview scheduled in Stockholm in May. My wife and I are currently in the US as I am doing a post doc. We have J1 and J2 visa respectively. She is pregnant and we are expecting the baby the last of April. Our doctor here has strongly advised us not to travel at this stage. After the baby arrives we also need some time to arrange the necessary paper work and get a passport for the baby. With the baby coming, it's practically important for us to travel back to Sweden for the interview. The embassy says that they cannot guarantee an interview as they need to file a request for a new visa number as our number is only active in May. Do you have any ideas as how to solve this? I'm so excited about the baby, but it's been a bit stressful since we found out about the interview that we need to be at two places at the same time...

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

My best,

Linus

Well, can you just go? Did the embassy say they need both of you to go?

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

I forgot to mention we're both Swedish citizens so we both need to go to the interview to get the green card - right?

Well, you can contact the Embassy and explain your situation, they may make arrangements because of your situation.
