Hello Everyone,

Wife’s CR1 VISA APPROVED!!!!!! I would like to Thank Visa Journey and everyone who have helped me throughout this visa process. I also like to thank the creator of LingChe’s shortcut and Loto’s guide, without this guides I don’t think it would be possible to finish this journey this quickly. Following is my wife’s visa experience at Mumbai consulate.

On March 30, 2009 my wife’s CR1 visa was approved!!!! She arrived at VFS at 6:15am. The Stars and Stripes Lounge was closed at this time and she waited outside with a large group of people all having their interview that day. Finally at approximately 6:50am Stars & Stripes opened and she went inside to deposit her purse and mobile phone in a locker, because you are not allowed to take such items into the consulate. Then she got on the shuttle bus at 7:20am that took her directly to the Consulate at about 7:35am. She then went through a security checkpoint and then got inside the consulate at 7:50am. My wife went inside and an Indian officer gave her originals back and asked for VFS receipt. The officer returned the VFS receipt back to my wife along with a token. Then within 20mins they took her fingerprints and asked for original interview letter for K3 and CR1. This is where my wife told them to process CR1 visa instead of K3. Then at 9:30am they called her name for the interview with the American officer. The interviewer asked if she wanted a translator...she did but she gave interview in English. My wife took an oath (to tell the truth). Then the (female) American officer asked the following questions:

Who is your petitioner?

What is his name?

How did you meet your husband?

What is your marriage date?

Who filed for your husband?

How long has he been in the US?

What does your husband do in US?

What is his employer name?

Why do you thing your marriage will last?

What did you see in your husband?

Where does your husband stay in US?

Does your husband have any siblings?

Are they married?

Where do they stay in US?

Then American lady officer saw our whole wedding album, honeymoon pictures, other ceremony pictures and asked my wife to identify where is your in-laws in the album.

The interview was over within 10 minutes. The American lady officer didn't ask to see phone call record or any other proof of relationship, nor did she ask for any additional documents. The officer was polite and nice during the interview.

Then the officer said "CONGRATULATIONS. YOUR VISA IS APPROVED. We will courier your visa within few days. Then my wife went back to VFS office to collect her stuff and asked them if she can pick up the visa in the evening.

Then later that day my wife went to the VFS office between 5 PM to 6 PM. They asked for Identification and the VFS receipt to pick up the Visa. VISA received!!!!!!

Once again Thank you to all VJ members for the great information & help provided through out this immigration process.

Best of luck to all of you!

GREAT! If only everyone's experience could be so easy.

you are also lucky because we had filed both K3 and CR1...but when the time came for K3, we gave a letter asking for CR1 interview in lieu of and they didnt even acknowledge the letter from the attorney. 2 months later, after receiving K3 visa, he was back to interview for CR1.

Needless to say, we had to forfeit K3, AP nearly 6 months to receive that CR1

Thank GOD he is here now.

May you have a happy life together.
