Glad to hear everyone's petitions are moving along... ours has been touched 9 times since July 27th , our last was on August 10th, and we havent heard anything.

I can see the Washington Monument from my office window, but I am, most definately, not feeling patriotic today...

I just got off the phone with NVC and found the conversation quite strange.

They are all very polite there, which is great, but plz tell me it has happened to someone before.

The guy asked for my case # and after that I said my case was returned because of IMBRA and finally reapproved. So I wanted to know if they got the file back there at NVC.

For the first time ever when calling NVC the guy asked me to hold on.

3 minutes later he came back and said: So your case was reapproved because of IMBRA?"

I said yes and he said "so we should be sending it out sometime this week".

He didn´t seem to be sure, so I asked again if they had got the file from Vermont.

He said he wasn´t sure how long it would take to get to Brazil..

I asked again and he said "that´s correct. we´ll be sending it sometime this week".

So, Doesn´t NVC always receive and send the petition on the same day? That´s what I thought, after reading the posts here...

Thanks a lot.

Hmmm. I don't think you should worry, really. It's just that when they check for our case number, the first information they get refers to the last time it's been sent to the consulate. So he probably thought it was weird that the system showed that it was sent in April, and because they don't know where the case is before it reaches NVC, he was confused. When you told him you got reapproved, he probably went with the standard answer.

I only offer advice - not even legal. Just the plain and simple kind.

I first called NVC last Wednesday and spoke with a gentelman who sounded a lot like the person you spoke with - I gave him the NVC # I had received previously and at first he sounded very confused when I asked about my case and acted almost as though he had never heard of IMBRA and then gave me a standard response. On Friday night, I called again and spoke with a lady and gave them the USCIS # and she put me on hold for a minute or two and came back and said it was received on Thursday and sent the same day. I don't know if it was just because she gave the answer I wanted to hear, but she seemed a lot more knowledgeable of what was going on.

So to make a long story short, I would wait a day and call back and hope you get someone else to help you.

I called the consulate to check on my petition and it's not there yet? So I called NVC again and it was sent on August 7th (I called to make sure I didn't misunderstand what the lady told me). A whole week and it's not reached Rio?

sigh...

Mew,

When I was first approved, back in April, it took the Consulate 7 days to get the petition.

It will be there this week.

:)

Yeah, I know... All of a sudden I want things to happen fast as they had the first time... I'll check again tomorrow.

Mew - my petition was sent to the argentinian consulate also on the 7th. Have you gotten any news from the consulate in Brazil? I'm trying to figure how to push them...

I haven't been able to get a response from the consulate since it was sent on 8/7. I sent an email on Friday and on Monday - but I haven't heard anything. They won't respond via the telephone. My fiancee is going to go there Thursday morning. BUT THEY HAVE TO HAVE IT BY NOW, NO? ? ? ? ?

Everyone? Should I keep updating the chart? IMO, I think they've pretty much figured what to do about recalled cases and things are - kind of (sigh) - back on track. So... what do you think?

Also, my petition was received yesterday by the consulate and they rescheduled the interview for September (more than a month from now).
