so the income stated on the letter from my employer is higher than that on the one listed on my 2008 tax return. I got a raise this year. Do I have to attache a note to the I-134 explaining why the income listed by my employer is higher than that on my tax return?

No. The income stated in the letter is your CURRENT income, which is what it should state. Your tax return is last years income. No need to explain. I had the same situation (quite a large disparity actually, but who's complaining?) and my bank statement showed another amount, even larger, because of various investment income, etc. I never listed assets as my income was more than sufficient. No questions asked. As long as everything is above the guidelines...no worries.

i didn't get a raise, but took a one month long vacation and was late to work a few times, so there is a difference between the letter and my income tax...
