Tax Returns are extremely important. Why haven't you filed yet? The deadline is April 15th and it takes about an hour or two if you file online (many places are free). Don't be lazy, get your docuents together and do it now. And remember to give half of your refunds to VisaJourney :D . Good Luck

Hi,

I filed my I-751 on November 20, 2008. We filed Tax Return 2009 separately, as we got more money than had we filed jointly. You think is it a big issue on the processing of removing conditions (I-751)?

Help needed please !!

You can file married, filing separately or married, filing jointly - USCIS isn't going to state you must file jointly if that is not in your best financial interest. You still file as married whether you file jointly or individually and that is what USCIS is looking for. Since you filed individually, include transcripts from both of you as you should both be listed as married, filing separately.

If you filed as a single person rather than married, then you need to remedy that and file correctly both for USCIS and IRS purposes.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

HI doc_cute, hope you guys are doing great! We are fine here. B)

Joint tax return is a BIG part of the proof that your finances are merged and you are still together as a couple, that's what they want to know. I would suggest filing the taxes NOW and then ordering a transcript from the IRS - they send it within a week! If you can't file taxes before sending in your Removing Conditions application, at least send in the W2s of your husband and you, that will show joint address. And send in plenty of other proof, like joint taxes from last year, joint bank accounts, credit cards, etc. It should be OK. Good luck!

Thanks. Thats what my Tax preparer suggested me, too. But , he asked me to consult an attorney before I do that. I will file an amended 2007 TAX RETURN as soon as possible.
