We're planning to book our flight to PAL, but i've been reading some reviews here that If the credit card owner is not part of the traveling party and is unable to present the credit card, clear photocopy of the front of the credit card and a clear photocopy of a separate valid photo ID of the credit card owner shall be required from the passenger(s) at the ticket collection point or at the check-in.

Is this true?

has anybody here experienced this?

Even if the credit card holder is part of the traveling party they will ask for and ID and the card if the ticket was purchased on the internet. I had that happen to Trisha and I on our PAL flihts to Leyte back in Dec.

True. Make sure all the numbers in the credit card are clear and visible (photocopy) and on the Id card.

Yes, it is true. I experienced it last year. My return flight from Ilocos to Manila was purchased online charged to the manager of a certain company's credit card. The company sent me then to Ilocos for purposes of work. I had to wait for around 3 hours before they finally accepted my ticket. The staff of PAL at Ilocos were very kind though, they even let me in at their office to explian to me why they could not accept the (1) faxed photocopy of the credit card, (2) scanned image of the credit card through e-mail, and all the rest that we thought of. It turned out that the manager's credit card is gold that is why when it wass scanned or photocopied, his name, and credit card number, and expiration date turned out to be blurred. The last thing he did was to take a photograph of his credit card through his cellphone (on my suggestion to cover his card a bit whith his palm while he does it. I have tried doing it on my own credit card during the 3 hours wait at the airport) and send it to PAL. that one worked! The moral lesson of my story is, before you go to the airport, make sure that you have a very clear photocopy or any image of the credit card that shows all the pertinent infos, and the ID of the card owner.

what about debit card? our ticket was bought online by my husband using his debit card, do i still need a copy of his card and a valid ID?

Every airline is different. I read somewhere once that Hawaiian Airlines will not let someone travel if the credit or debit card holder is not traveling on the same itinerary. I believe EVA Airlines has this same policy. All the websites will indicate their policies before they allow you to buy a ticket.

The last time I flew back from Manila, someone here in the US charged my ticket to their credit card on Continental Airlines, so I do know they allow it, as long as it's booked on their site.

I hope this helps you, happy traveling :star:

If you use a mastercard or visa with the secure password feature, you dont need to have the credit card with you. It says this on the PAL e-ticket when you print it from the email they send you.

If in doubt, call PAL about this. I say it is good to have photocopy of the owners CC and ID to put your mind at ease. Maybe even a signed permission slip, too, hehe. :star:

thanks for the replies!

Yes, every airline is different. It is not the same with NWA, or Continental, even Cebu Pacific, for example, but then again our friend here is asking for PAL specifically. FYI, the rule is mentioned on PAL website http://philippineairlines.com even before you click the "purchase" icon. I can't remember if there is anythig like that concerning debit cards. I think, it is the same, because they still would want to avoid fraud. It is best to be sure, though to avoid flight delays, just have a clear photocopy/image of the card and card owner's ID. Bon voyage!

wth? really? photocopy of credit card? Isn't that too dangerous to get your card stolen? Never ever give somebody your credit card number... might as well as photocopying it? It doesn't sound right to me. They also told me that. My husband and I booked a flight going to Manila next week. There was some complication because I had a return ticket when I got in the USA as a K1 visa holder. So i called them and said I want to move the date of my return ticket to April (my return ticket was schedule sometime in MAY) and charge it to the same credit card that I used but she said... "no mam, you can fax us the copy of your credit card directly to our office to pay the penalty fee.

Told my husband about this....he said... no way! There are too many credit card frauds already and no American or somebody who are used to having a credit card will just photocopy their credit cards or fax and give it to somebody. In other words, we changed airlines. They are too cheap that they are willing to risk their customer's security tsk tsk tsk.
