Hello VJ members,

Just wanted to know about: what language is interview going in the US Consulate abroad? My husband is in Israel, he is russian speaking, also speaks hebrew and his interview is coming soon in a couple of months. Does he need to be prepared to answer the questions on English and someone can translate from his native language into English? Any idea? Wait for your help. Thanks.

He can choose to do his interview in either Hebrew or English (Jerusalem also offers interviews in Arabic) -- and I think they probably can provide a Russian translator if necessary as so many people in Israel speak Russian (you might want to ask about this in advance of his interview.)

But be advised that the consulate will want to know in what language you communicate with each other, and will likely want some evidence of that communication.

For example: if he does his interview in Hebrew, but you use Russian instead to talk to each other, then you need to be prepared to show some evidence that you both speak Russian -- emails, letters, etc. are ok evidence, but even better if you have evidence of studying that language or are a native speaker.

Vice versa if he does his interview in Russian but you use Hebrew to communicate with each other -- be ready to show evidence that you both can speak Hebrew.

Best of luck!
