Check the Embassy or Consulate website for the list of documents needed and any Embassy specific requirements. The State Department website does not always give you all the information that you really need for the interview at a specific Embassy or Consuolate. I had to call the USEM in Bogota to clarify a couple of questions we had about what they actually needed for Ivonne's interview.

Is he the USC or the beneficiary? If he is the one applying for the visa then for sure take the military paperwork to the interview. If he is the USC it is not really needed but I am sending my DD214 with my wife to her interview just in case a question is aked about my military service. GO NAVY!

The CR-1/IR-1 forum has to do with SPOUSAL visas not K-1 visas. Moving this to embassy consulate forum.

IF foreign citizen served in the military then YES they are required if the records are available. THEY ARE AVAILABLE in the UK

Check the consulate website. Most likely, YES. The instructions for that consulate will tell you exactly what you need. In Kiev it is military discharge papers. Of course any documents other than English need to be translated.

Thanks for all the help. It is greatly appreciated!

LOL, I didn't notice he is from the UK. The muddled English they use ought to be sufficient without translation unless some east end Cockney prepared the form.
