Generally it makes no difference regarding approval or denial. It may make a big difference to your fiancee. I went, I would do it again, but I do not credit my presence with getting the visa approved. Some consulates will not let you attend the interview (Kiev did) some will make you wait in the waiting room others will make you wait outside. But it is always good for the morale of the fiancee.

On what basis can this be claimed? If you can't back this statement up, then please retract it.

True.

Hi Jason. I am moving this thread to regional discussion so you can hear from others who have interviewed at your Embassy/Consulate. Posters, please note that what is relevant at one Embassy/Consulate is not necessarily relevant at another.

Good luck, Jason. :)

Unfortunatly I was unable to attend my fiancee's interview in Phnom Penh, but as far as the embassy or interviewer is concerned, I don't think it matters. As others have said though, I am sure it would help your fiancee feel better to have your support. As far as your call log, can you explain more in more detail? What method did you two use to make calls? Calling cards, Cell phone, home phone etc? Do you have any records showing the phone number in Cambodia?

HI!

Guess what my fiance has an interview yesterday. And he passed the interview with just him alone. I couldn't go with him because I just start working. Anyway, I want to advise you to bring alot of evidence. If you feel that your fiance is brave enough to go to interview by herself you don't need to attend. But you feel that she is not confidence I recommend you to go with her. I guess they allow you in.

Based on what my fiance told me they interview him in English and questions are 30 plus. Maybe he got the tough CO. The interview last for about 40 mins. He feel that he is only one on that day that got this much questions. I guess because they saw our email so they conduct in English. In term of email evidence, during the interview, the CO look through the email page by page. The CO does not pay much attention to the call log that my fiance print out from internet cafe or the SMS phone bill that I had send to him.

My advise to your fiance for interview is be confidence in the answer and make sure she knows you well and let her study what you had put on the I-129F. Some question are straight forward and some are not. Good luck!

Alot of times the guards at the gate will refuse entrance of the beneficiary at the gate. My wife went to the interview alone. I was hoping I could enter as well, but, they wouldn't let me in.

There's also a letter in the front bulletin board giving out rules for the interview not to bring the spouse, or beneficiary with you to the interview due to a limited waiting area.

As far as the call logs are concerned, don't bring alot. They're just going look through it quickly then give it back to you. For my wife, we never have a call log. I just gave her a few calling cards, not 100s like other candidates have.

One thing you have to keep in mind, they will ask questions regarding the bond in your relationship. So, you're already prepared if you know everything about your beneficiary. You don't really have to know everything, just enough to determine if you married him or her for the right reason.

Her interview was successful. This was over a year ago. Having your spouse or beneficiary waiting on the grass in front of wat phnom while you are being interviewed feels like an eternity for your spouse or beneficiary.

Good Luck!
