I am thinking about starting a book club, open to anyone from any region. I've been reading a lot during this process and maybe you have too. We can pick a book read it and then talk about it as we go, or we can discuss books we have already read! I'm open for any suggestions. Reading has helped me pass the time and every once in a while someone mentions a book that they have read, an author they like....lets have a whole thread about what we read.

Count me in, although I might be a little 'sporadic' with my contributions.

Well, me too. My work is just now picking up but I thought it would be a good way to get to know some of ya'll and pass the time. Any suggestions on a book?

I just finished Eat, Pray, Love....It was good and plenty to discuss. I am reading a book about Whaling right now, can't find it at the moment....I will read just about anything.

Oooo....I wanna join too! But I'm in Brazil and it might take me a bit longer to get the book then others as I have to either find a place here with lots of English books or order it online and have it sent here. I read all of the time and have a list of every book I've ever read since 2002. I write the title, author, date I start, date I finish and a little comment about how I like the book. I'm a dork.

Anyway, I can't think of any worthwhile suggestions right now. I've heard about eat, pray, love but haven't read it. I just finished reading the Wicked series books and they were quite good.

Okay, so while typing that I thought of a suggestion. About 2 months ago I read "Life of Pi" and we could talk about that book for EVER. It was really really amazing and so thought provoking. Really interesting. I think we should read that one!

I read Life of Pi last year! It was really good and lots to talk about. I need to get it out and read it again. If you will PM me your address, I will send you my copy of Eat, Pray, Love. It was probably one of the best books I've ever read. I read the Wicked series too. I lived in Sweden for a year in 2007 and that was my year to read, read, read. I guess I probably read 200 books. I don't have a list of books but I like that idea!! Madame Cleo - Life of Pi??

Excellent idea.... A few years ago a group of colleagues decided to read as many books from the BBC'S Big Read poll....they took the challenge to read as many from the top 100 in a year as possible - the only rule as such was to actually read it rather than just flick and pick parts. It was interesting that when I was reading books that I normally wouldnt really have bothered with I quite enjoyed them ! Revisiting Wuthering Heights for instance was vastly different as a adult from the time I read it as a child. I also discovered new authors Paulo Coelho for instance. It also sparked a new interest in film - those books which had been made into films found their way onto my DVD list too -

I too would need a bit of time getting the book nominated as EVERYTHING here has to be ordered online - but i certainly would love to join.

I agree....a few years ago I re-read A Tree Grows in Brooklyn and Jane Eyre. I enjoyed both while growing up but really, really enjoyed them again as an adult. I'm open to read just about anything.

I read a lot and always have. Read everything by Michener ever since my Grandmother MADE me read "Hawaii". Since then I read everything possible. Love Biographies and history and anything on war and battles.

I tried to read Michener a long time ago.....would I like his books better now than I did in the '80s??
