Prison Reform:

1) Execute all murderers.

2) Castrate all rapists and child molesters/predators on their second offense, no exceptions.

3) Each prison has 3 categories for their inmates: Separate a) the rapists & child predators from the violent offenders from c) the non-violent offenders.

4) Every prison gets a decent library (internet for all prisons but restricted access).

5) Federal government runs 1 on-line university that each inmate can enroll in for free and receive degrees up to the P.h.D. level.

6) If an inmate is a "model inmate" he/she gains new privileges including more visiting time, conjugal visits (if married), ability to leave the prison to lecture at high schools, slightly better food once or twice a week, etcetera.

7) Non-violent offenders get to work for the big 3 for $12 a week

You forgot Flat screen color tv and cable in every cell.

I'm sure you would just love to stay in the prison I described. Nothing changed in this "new" prison except that it has a decent collection of books, a couple of old beat up computers, and the ability for inmates to get their college degree (mind you it is a prison diploma and even if an inmate got his P.h.D., I doubt anyone would hire him).

Doesn't it sound lovely? I'm canceling my dream vacation to a 5 star resort in Hawaii this Christmas and going to see if I could book a week at this imaginary prison I spelled out above, I hope they let me stay. It would be a dream come true.

Though some of your suggestions are a little on the harsh side, your list is very thorough and thought out. It would certainly be a step in the right direction.

Thanks---speaking from some personal experiences.

1 and 2 are too harsh. IMHO 3 through 6 are all good ideas. To add to 6, the "model inmates" should be let loose early without any parole or at least a less strict parole. A lot of time parolees are not going back to prison for catching new charges but because they fail a drug test, couldn't make it to a meeting with their P.O., etcetera. I thought the saying was "commit the crime, do the time" not "commit the crime, do the time, then deal with strict probation upon release" in which you make the slightest mistake and its back to the penitentiary.

I'm with you. Totally agree.

I certainly feel individuals who are guilty of violent crimes, should receive the severest of punishment. Not that I toatally agree with it, but in the interest of fairness, not everyone in prison is a die hard criminal, and is capable of reform. So that those individuals don't get drawn even further down in the darkness, there should be some way to not lump them in with the rest of the habitual criminals.

Never be able to make prison a real prison as long as goofy courts ruling on stuff like this.

N.H. prison ordered to restore inmate's kosher diet

It's not a freaking hotel and it's not medically necessary.

Need to bring back chain gangs.

umm ... does improper toxic waste disposal count?

Well then it would be the prison guilty of that... not the "former" prisoner!!! ;)

Question: Why do they use alcohol to clean the skin of the prisoner before inserting the needle? Are they afraid they will cause an infection?!!:whistle:

i think that serial killers, child molestors and such are mentally sick and i don t believe it is a choice, their chances of healing is close to zero .not that they don t want 2, but it s deeper than that.

but in the other hand , killing a killer make us a killer....it doesn t matter if it s LEGAL or not.

i mean it s funny how people would find the action of a killer disgusting, but yet approve of his/her execution...

I don t think god said, u shall not kill, unless the court say so...

i dunno, i guess this tread could go on and on for years, and we would never be able to agree, as we all have a different level of empathy and ability to forgive.
